It's well-documented that the president maintained a years-long friendship with the world's most notorious child sex trafficker. It might strike you as odd there aren't direct allegations of Trump engaging in child sex trafficking.. except there are. There are SO MANY. They just never get reported!

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

Incredible if predictable betrayal of public trust: you have industry lobbyists become appointees, exploit unitary executive theory to undermine environmental laws and ride roughshod over staff.

The thing about impeaching Hegseth is normally presidents don't choose wildly inappropriate people for key exec branch positions and if they do the Senate won't confirm them and if it does anyway and then the person screws up constantly the president will axe them so it never comes to impeachment.

A great actor but beyond that, as this wonderful interview illustrates, a man who knew how to appreciate all that life offers.

RIP Tom Skerritt. A great actor who had an uncanny ability to show up in the most iconic movies, even if it was with the briefest part. I did a wide-ranging talk with him a few years ago that's still one of my favorite interviews [Gift link]: www.vulture.com/2021/10/tom-...

“Top officials in the State Dept made clear that only candidates who voted for President Donald Trump would be eligible for the mid-to-upper level foreign service roles.” They have effectively blurred the difference between career and appointee roles. Only loyalists rise in a personalist regime.

This is an incredibly important point. According to both Acton and her mother, their last meeting was after Acton testified against her stepfather in court. Her mother fled the state with her stepfather and they’ve had no contact since. Acton’s mother is raging against a 12 year old abuse victim.

Einaphets@einaphets.bsky.social

Let’s be clear, Amy Acton’s birth mother hasn’t been in her life for 48 years. So when the birth mother calls Amy a liar, she’s calling the 12 year old who was raped by her step-father a liar. Vivek has reached a new disgusting low, even for Republicans.

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.
