>>…the Court should promptly dismiss the complaint with prejudice so that Alaska can proceed to administer its elections consistent with state and federal law and without unwarranted interference by the United States.<<

Adam Klasfeld@klasfeldreports.com

Alaska authorities strongly oppose the Trump DOJ’s attempted “interference” in the election. This is significant because there were concerns the state—which sought to DQ the second Sullivan—would take the same side. But it didn’t. Quite the contrary. buff.ly/EJHtDpX

Brazil's advice on ignoring far-right trolls: don't even give water

Em primeiro no trending topics do bsky. "Brazil's advice on ignoring far-right trolls". É, rapaz. Não dê nem água.

Replying to @chrisgeidner.bsky.social

Bennett literally states that he wrote a concurrence because Bumatay insisted on going as far as he did in his dissent. This, also, is something that I highlighted — bsky.app/profile/chri... — was happening yesterday during oral arguments.

Just noting that during *both* game 1 and game 2 the broadcast of the World Series I watched in Toronto aired long, pre-recorded video sequences that only made sense if the LA Dodgers were playing — even though LA was eliminated 4-0 by the Brewers and is not in fact playing.

There's an interesting and dismaying timeline here, in which the company, the FDA and USDA identified the problem weeks ago but no public recall of the tainted chicken wraps was ordered by the government. The information they've shared appears to be due to excellent reporting by @usatoday.com.

foodsafetynews.comPublisher's Platform: USDA finally on the record; names Trader Joe's in E. coli outbreakNaming the product cost the government nothing on Oct. 23. It would have cost nothing on Sept. 23.

Alt text: This is a terrible look for the WNBA -- and there is no way spin it. I realize all the potential solutions sucked but the prospect of crowning a champion on a Thursday afternoon is just brutal optics (and will be brutal television ratings.) If you are the league, you are praying for a G7.

Everyone should read these threads I did about industry lobbyists and the EPA and understand them. Take the time to see the unambiguous evidence of what's happening now at this moment inside the EPA. Please retweet them. Please read them. Each one of the threads. It's happening in slow motion.

This drives me CRAZY. I grew up playing sports w/ boys. I played on a U12 boys select soccer team, b4 switching to a U12 girls team that kept beating us. Nobody had any issue with any of it. Youth sports have never had the strict sex/gender boundaries that “XX-XY” activists are now trying to defend.

Andrew D Thaler@drandrewthaler.bsky.social

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

If you had told me at any point in Lula's 1st or 2nd term not only that I would be rooting for him in the future ... but also that I'd be rooting for his *4th* term, when he's *80*, after multiple corruption convictions... and that I would think it was of *urgent global importance* for him to win...

Ninth Circuit's Bennet, to DOJ: How do we have jurisdiction here, given that the district court hasn't ruled yet on the timeline you asked for? Bennet: How did this filing happen, by accident? (Oof.)

At the Ninth Circuit in a rare Sunday argument over the request for an injunction pending appeal, Bennett says this US v. CA TRO situation is "far, far, far different than A.A.R.P. ... I don't see how we have jurisdiction." Oral argument here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIrq...

Chris Geidner@chrisgeidner.bsky.social

DOJ has now quoted SCOTUS's statement in a case over a court's inaction in a lawsuit challenging the Trump admin's efforts to rush-deport people under the Alien Enemies Act — when people could have been sent to CECOT without process — as a justification for its appeal here.

wellstone was the first politician i ever got to volunteer for. people love to quote “we all do better when we all do better” but i try to live by this one: “If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them.”

Twenty-four years ago today, on October 25, 2002, Minnesota lost Senator Paul Wellstone. We also lost his wife, Sheila, and their daughter, Marcia. Campaign staffers. Today, take moment to honor Wellstone's amazing legacy.

The delay in the 84th minute came when Baumgartl told ref Drew Fischer he heard monkey sounds directed at Fallou Fall from the stands. "I think that's for me unforgivable," he said. "If a fan's doing that, I need to protect my players, I need to protect Fallou."

It is ridiculous that we went from Obama to Trump. It’s even more ridiculous that 80 million people decided that a second Trump term would be a good idea. Two versions of America, indeed.
