LULA! ✊🏻✨✊🏻✨✊🏻✨✊🏻

Nathan Newman@nathansnewman.bsky.social

Lula is a giant of the last half century, facing down Brazil's military dictatorship as a union leader, bringing it a modicum of social democracy as President, and facing down rise of the fascist right multiple times in last decade- including going to jail for it. www.yacnews.com/lula-wins-br...

This news is important because all the fucks out there actively attempting to wreck the world want you to think that the work is hopeless and just mitigating the worst case scenario. It's not. Fucking keep going.

We now have rigorous pooled data showing that even without active restoration efforts, cleared rainforest can rebound to 75% of their former species composition and 90% of species diversity within just thirty years. #goodnews

The fact that both Democrats and Republicans are racing to the 10 side of a 90-10 issue really tells you a lot about the state of our democracy (it's a corporatocracy), and how both parties view democracy in general (as a nuisance).

NEW: As AI companies provoke intense scrutiny, former Obama White House official Jay Carney has joined an effort to “rebuild bonds” between Democrats and the AI industry. Dem operatives are joining the AI industry in droves – we’ve tracked over 100 former Biden officials who made similar moves.

Strong endorse. Will say it again: the pundit class's choice (and it was a choice) to overread 2024 as a seismic cultural shift was a catastrophe for this country, emboldening Trump to go full fascist and encouraging institutional surrender in the face of it. This lives on amid his total collapse.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

Breathtakingly bad polling. If the political class hadn't preemptively declared him immune to all laws of political gravity, they'd be calling this a failed presidency and talking about resignation, impeachment, party splits, and other historical markers of full executive-branch collapse.

A person without any govt position, who has numerous financial conflicts of interest, should not conduct US foreign policy. And that’s before we get to the fact that he uses this role to corruptly solicit money for himself. It’s wrong. Many seem to have accepted it, but I’ll never stop objecting.

Here's the thing about regulation under capitalism. Every business has a duty to reject all attempts at reducing its profits, even when people within the business know regulation is necessary. Sometimes good people prevail and guardrails are enacted. But that doesn't happen without a fight.

Happy to see this news being properly contextualized today. This waiving of NDAs is NOT what disclosure advocates have been hoping for. It applies solely to discussions with AARO Or PURSUE, not members of Congress or their staff. This feels like a catch and kill operation to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

aboveblackmedia.bsky.social@aboveblackmedia.bsky.social

Trump has directed agencies to waive NDAs for former officials with UAP information, clearing the path for them to speak with AARO or the PURSUE task force. Not declassification, just permission to talk. #UAP #Disclosure

Watching ICE agents literally run away from a Mount Laurel Starbucks without their coffee because the neighborhood completely rejected them is pure gold. South Jersey will make you unwelcome every single time you show your faces.

When guys are like “that’s not rape, all my friends have done that,” that’s exactly what we’re talking about. That’s the problem. Rape is so common and unpunished that a guy could casually reveal all his friends are rapists and not see it as a problem.
