If youโ€™re interested in this sort of thing, FEX is doing the best (public) job in this space. Paulo Matos has an excellent blogpost discussing how to handle x87 code on ARM with a virtual stack pass, and how those speedups look for Half-Life and other games:โ€จโ€จ p.ocmatos.com/blog/fex-x87...

Some speed & memory improvements you'll see with TypeScript 7.1 Beta. We're hoping to land more before RC & stable.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support ๐Ÿ’–

Let's talk a little more about Margaret Hamilton because she deserves it In 1961, Margaret Hamilton was tackling massive systems, having previously wrangled room-sized computers that blared like a foghorn whenever they crashed.

You can now deploy static sites with the bunny.net CLI. The new workflow wires up Storage, CDN, and DNS and puts the folder your framework builds live on our global network in one command.

data centers can literally be forests. Put the computers in the trees, put them underground. Put them on stilts. Hire forest rangers! Like, really think of anything and everything to be creative and build better.

Any planned building site for **any** project that exceeds grid capacity and proposes gas turbines or other burny burny on prem power is a failure and embarrassing. We have all of this technology and you can't even put any of it in there? Unimaginative and boorish. We demand more!

They should provide energy, be a configurable carbon sink, capture water, have a garden roof... Provide housing!! Idk, be imaginative. Use your brains. Spend money on something worthwhile. Tired of rotting big boxes locked behind stone walls accreting our data inside parasitically extracting value.

20-somethings are not wise and should not be venerated. It should be low key insulting to refer to someone like that. Youth worship is yucky. Cherish youth, don't put them on a pedestal or give them millions/billions.

And the notion of "intelligence" as something that can be quantified and tested is one that comes out of eugenics. So it's not a surprise to see the AI bros go all in on eugenics too - it's built into the ideas they're committed to. A good book on the history of how we think about the brain:

hachettebookgroup.comThe Idea of the BrainA powerful examination of what we think we know about the brain and why โ€” despite technological advances โ€” the workings of our most essential organ remain a mystery.

can we please all collectively stop saying that "ai is just a tool" it is a meaningless & oft-repeated phrase that justifies nothing & helps no one ai is an industry led by psychos, ai is chatbots, ai is agents, ai is data centers, ai is shitty features in software that doesn't need it

inb4 someone wraps local first tiny join db with atmosphere backed CMS data a la airspace

James Pearce@jamespearce.bsky.social

๐Ÿ‘‹ Say hello to @TinyJoin, a tiny relational database for browser apps. Built in Rust, and hosted as WASM on a worker thread, it's designed for rich local-first apps - and to challenge a few of the web's dated architectural assumptions.

So no, I'm not particularly excited about Fable 5.1 or Astra or anything else - what would I use it for?? The fact that Astra demos are all about recreating old games in web browsers suggests to me people also have no idea what to use these new models for save for copying existing software tbh
