Was working at clubs and gigs in 1997 and the first week or two this came out it was used in every soundcheck, which usually meant a couple of us standing in a DJ booth laughing while watching the rest of the crew nearly drop quite expensive kit everywhere when Like Herod kicked in.

WHAT A FUCKING RECORD@whatafuckingrecord.bsky.social

Start this thinking it's a euphemism for being too good, get to the end to see they actually did call the cops on a toddler, and then read further to see the kid's been kicked out of the league and told if he comes back it's trespassing.

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

Hello! It doesn’t cost anything to repost but it helps me spread the word about my small business. My online shop is full of bold & colourful prints, homewares and cards. I’m also available for freelance design work and art licensing. gailmyerscough.co.uk

Every year the same. Clocks go back - *time itself* manipulated- ‘for farmer’. And every year the farmer next door stays in bed. Luxuriating in slumber; delighting in nod; feasting on lethargy. His fields? Fallow. His livestock unattended; his fine machines rusting. RISE MAN! Sew, gather *make hay*

Slightly emotional seeing Mike D last night. He could do zero Beasties and it would still be amazing, but he chose the half dozen covers perfectly. His band, and his boys, look like they're having the time of their lives. He remains the illest motherfucker from here to Gardena.

It’s 11-13 degrees outside today, depending on where you are in the UK. This is also the recommended serving temperature range for cask ale. So this is my annual invitation to anyone who thinks cask is served “warm” to go outside in your summer clothes and let us know how you get on.

Music. The sheer diversity of what's out there is amazing and things keep colliding in whole new ways, some of which makes absolutely zero sense to me personally. I know that often the answer to the best year for music is when people were 16 but for me the best year for music is always next year.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

In the long term this is way more destructive than Jackdaw, because it actively slows down electrification and weaning households off residual LNG consumption.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

A happy farewell to Cabaret Voltaire. Not many bands get to arrive sounding like the future and 50yrs later leave sounding like everything's finally caught up with them.

Absolute jokes when it's not even 07.00 and you can't guarantee getting from the Sussex coast into work before 10.00. I genuinely can't remember the last time every one of the four trains for my day's commute ran on time, or wasn't entirely cancelled.

Turns out my wife had a reply from our MP yesterday after she recently complained during an 8hr commuting round trip. Last month fewer than 2/3 ran on time and nearly 1 in 10 cancelled. Really not a sustainable way to run a train service.

Currently working away while listening to this. It's a brilliant mix.

If you want a genuinely weird and frightening Halloween mix then get on this. 2 hours, dark bass, chilling ambience and a load of horror movie samples to die for. www.mixcloud.com/lwstd-fm/202...

A day late to the Ali G interview discourse but it's fascinating how the perception of the character has changed. At the time he was clearly playing a suburban middle-class, white, urban London obsessed, Tim Westwood type named Alistair. The kind of kid anyone who grew up in the shires knew well.

That kid doesn't exist now. UK rap from grime to afro beats to hip-hop and more is a genuine global force. The Multicultural London English accent has evolved. UK slang is international. He might have once been mocking a white stereotype but now he's indistinguishable from the YooKay grifters.

MARTIN. I first drew Martin when he was merely an eBay listing of a modest 1990s toy clown. Then I bought him! And drew him as a tasteful still life. My son asks me to move him any time his face is visible in the room, as allegedly Martin is ‘terrifying’ www.chloecumming.com/chloepencilh...

Blog update: On learning of McDonalds part in a Government plan to feed the public if nuclear war erupted, Pop Will Eat Itself rapped about Big Macs on "Def Con One". It reached the top of the Indie Charts and was their last single before signing to RCA. indienumber1s.blogspot.com/2026/10/120-...

Like many people who lived in Sheffield in the early 00s I did half a day working with Ant Marketing which basically meant door-to-door selling unnecessary gas upgrades to people with English as a second language. I made zero sales.

This post is unavailable.

Imho the ideal way to get this to work is chronologically over decades. The George film is the Pete Best era, Ringo covers the Beatles years from the seat at the back, John the immediate fallout, and finally Paul facing the responsibility of carrying the legacy of Lennon/McCartney and the Beatles.

“…an accident with the tape machine caused Melle Mel’s intro to stutter ‘Chak-Chak-Chak-Chaka Khan…’ like a glitching computer reciting a Hugo Ball sound poem. ‘That’s interesting,’ the producer mused. ‘Let’s keep that.’” Let Me Rock You — Chaka Khan’s “I Feel For You” at 40:

Not just BBC at fault, but if the ethnicity of the politician calling for beheading the King was non-white you can guarantee that lede would not be buried. Also, assuming that the lawyers are still arguing over the final broadcast, these comments might be far from the worst things about to come out.

bbc.co.ukReform faces criticism after councillors filmed making racist commentsReform says all of those people filmed by ITV are under investigation having resigned or been suspended.

Also nice bit in the comments where someone says that back in the day the Hartnolls used to bring the easy listening records they were sampling along when they DJ'd.

Auto playing random new series is really annoying. I came back into the room after an hour and that Wargames bollocks with Gove was playing and now it's in my "Continue Watching" and my "Because You Watched", which makes algorithmic suggestions, and viewing figure renewals, absolutely pointless.
