“While each of us (voted Brexit) for different reasons, we all believed that the UK could do a better job of running its own affairs than *unelected officials* in Brussels could." Ben Houchen... November 2020 Six years later 👇👇👇

Private Eye Magazine@privateeyenews.bsky.social

Since his ennoblement in Boris Johnson’s 2023 resignation list, Tees Valley regional mayor Lord (Ben) Houchen has claimed more than £25,000 in tax-free daily “attendance” allowances from the House of Lords for 73 days when he hasn’t voted, spoken or performed any recorded parliamentary activity.

Shocking how an obviously vulnerable neuro diverse man could be hounded and driven to his early death by the academic establishment and ghouls in the press. Rip Jason Arday.

the International Criminal Court was created to ensure that no one is above the law: no president, no prime minister, no general. It draws from one of the core lessons of the Second World War, as formulated in Nuremberg: Crimes are committed by men, not by abstract entities (states). Think about it

With the huge increase in numbers of people relying on unmoderated and inaccurate social media channels for their news, the last thing the BBC should be doing right now is downgrading its output.

Parliamentary standards committee protocols, procedures and reports were formulated to deal with misbehaving individuals and limited scale corruption by members. Is it up to the job of dealing appropriately with international interference in our democracy and financial incentivisation of treason?

Everyone is rightly interested in Harborne’s monetary support for Nigel Farage. But GB News provides him with an annualised salary of over a million pounds a year, 500,000 shares and unaccounted for millions in terms of free political advertising for Farage’s Party

A foreign funded party with an autocratic structure, bound by racist, bigoted ideology and with seemingly unlimited access to dark money is clearly a threat to our national security. When will Parliament act against Farage and Reform?

NEW: Richard Tice failed to pay almost £100,000 in corporation tax, benefiting his investment company which made large donations to Reform UK. First time Reform's deputy leader's tax affairs can be directly linked to finances of Nigel Farage's party.

#C4News last night reported on the wholesale targeting of ambulances & paramedics in Lebanon by Israel, including the recent 'triple hit', when Israel attacked an ambulance, then attacked paramedics who went to help, and then attacked further paramedics also trying to help.

I'm not quite sure why the BBC are still talking up Reform's chances in Scotland. We know what happened in Wales, the liability that Trump has now become and we've seen Farage's mate in Hungary humiliated in their election. I suspect the Scottish elections will show Reform's star to be fading.

A true Statesman doesn't go into a conference or armistice meeting spouting messages for their base or self vanity. Vance is a pezzente self promoting gobshite.

More alarm bells around President Trump's continued mental decine. Anyone listening? There is a nation to be run (and a not insignificant one at that)...get your fingers out Vance and Cabinet members, self interest should come second here.

Starmer has gained some political credibility and the appearance of authenticity with his principled stance on Trump and Netanyahu's assault on Iran . He should probably think carefully before changing tack...

For all these critical voices saying Britain should have gone in at the start, it is worth keeping in mind that if you find yourself on the same side as Netanyahu and/or Trump then you are almost certainly on the wrong side of history. Criminals both.
