The coverage has been disgraceful. Good on @marisakabas.bsky.social for holding the NYT accountable.

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

we really don't hear enough about how being a survivor of SA and watching, helpless, as a known sexual abuser rises to the one of the most powerful offices in the world is a special kind of constant trigger

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Is it normal for an anonymous Wyoming LLC that sent mass mailers impersonating a transgender advocacy group to hire the lawyer who defended TX Attorney General Ken Paxton from impeachment in response to a court filing seeking to depose people who could unmask the LLC's owners

That RFK clip is ghastly, but it's totally consistent with the Islamophobia that has been coming out of this administration, including Trump's rhetoric about Abdul El-Sayed. They are all in on the hatred of Muslims because it's a formula that has worked before.

I mean it's kinda nice to see this sentiment applied to a Republican candidate for once, tbh also this is your reminder that this asshole is a conservative Brit who moved here in 2013 or whatever.

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

Around 175 House Dems just called on Trump's DOJ and DHS to end "weaponization of law enforcement" against Rep Ilhan Omar. The letter is signed by numerous ranking committee Dems, showing depth of support for Omar in leadership and signaling how Dem House will act. newrepublic.com/article/2171...

I am devastated to learn that Eric Bauza has died. I just spoke with him a couple months ago and I cannot express how joyous it was to have *the Looney Tunes* speaking to *me* and I also cannot express how much it was clear doing the voices brought Bauza joy. www.vulture.com/article/eric...

The Bolsonarists didn't change their minds, they didn't suddenly stop believing that their man could do no wrong and that Lula was an existential threat to Brazil. They were simply outvoted by those who refused to risk a return to fascism, and decided not to sit this election out.

I really hope the majority of humanity understands that technology is at a point where it will only get better, and if we don't absolutely burn this anti-democratic shit out of the entire world on a social and political level, it will come back aided with better technology next time.

There MUST be consequences, ACTUAL consequences, for what those in power have done. Combined, they have personally threatened the entire human race, with the most vulnerable most impacted. This can truly *never* be allowed to happen again. Fascism, authoritarianism? No more. Not ever.

this is what a consequence of a literacy* crisis looks like * as in, ability to not only understand the words being said/read, but COMPREHENDING them. being able to determine a strong argument from a weak one.

I've donated to a few candidates before and so my name is on lists of folks who can be persuaded to open up their wallets for dems in close races. And it's true! I can! The magic words are "trans rights are human rights and I will not dignify weird creeps' obsession with teen girls' genitals."

For the record, if you're a parent considering taking your kids to see Wildwood: I took my 7yo and 11yo. Both had a great time and were totally fine. The movie contains themes of death, grief, and war. There's some blood, an intense PG-13 battle scene, light swearing, and on-screen character death.

This is also where I remind you that this film is based on a book series by the same name and is intended for middle grade readers. It is age appropriate.

It's all handled beautifully and the film had wonderful lessons, and was also beautiful to watch and very entertaining. Definitely don't listen to naysayers who say it's not appropriate for children. It is. It's just not an "easy" story.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.
