A question I often get: "So what's a Dialogue Lead? What is it you actually do?" I'm happy to break it down: Game audio can be divided into three categories; music, sound effects, and dialogue. On the dialogue team our priority is to ensure that all spoken content sounds believable and immersive.

my optimistic take: as AAA embraces slop, unbearable revenue models & privacy invasion, it'll drive consumers back to meaningful experiences made by small studios (+ AAA's newly-minted ex-staff). The LLM bubble will burst in 2027 & investment capital will return (though not to 2012-2022 levels).

The ability to get around with modern GPS apps. You can even manage complex systems like public transportation in a city you've never been to before! My first thought when I got a smart phone in college was, "I'm never going to be lost again."

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

6) Marvel's Wolverine - @insomniac.games I beat this game on the hardest difficulty, which is something I have never done before. I legit had a great time playing this. I loved the challenge of it, and because of the accessibility, it's one of my favourite games of the year.

Every shipped game is a miracle! I'm proud of the teamwork and craft that went into every aspect of this game. Check it out if you're interested, digital and physical copies are available now!

Right now the world is full of people who want to code and write and paint and film stuff and people who want to play and read and look at and watch stuff and nobody is allowed to do any of that because some unrelated third guy isn't making enough money off the deal

Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people. The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.

Saying one of the most prolific live service titles “fell short of expectations” in a massive layoff announcement is a slap in the face to every dev and every player who knows how much Destiny meant in an industry where longevity is rare. Whose expectations did it fail? The investors? The execs?

"Game dev is one of those jobs you only do when you really want to. It's not going to make your parents proud, you're unlikely to get rich in an industry that lays off people for making superhits, and its a demanding & confrontative job. Why would you let a machine do the thing you're here to do?"

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

I'm so happy to see the pride folks have from working on initiatives we led via Black at Bungie. And to clarify, with the help of the Bungie Foundation and the amazing fans, the pin and emblem he's talking about raised $425,000 for the Equal Justice Initiative in the first year!

bungie, former destiny 2 devs told me, was a fraught work environment, but many devs and teams did what they consider to be career-best work despite that

Please forgive my tears… this one was tough. Thank you to every Warlock + Guardian who kept this legendary game alive for these past wonderful years. It has been an honor and privilege to have taken this journey with you. See you starside… 💙 #Ikora #IkoraRey #Destiny2 #DestinyTheGame

The thing to take away about Destiny 2's fate is that shit takes a long time in game dev. The discussions we were having a year or two ago are echoing as fixes in this final patch. The dour community mood from a year ago killed it now. Echoes & shadows of years past affect games more than you think.

And just hours and hours of playing online with my friends and coworkers. Celebrating every new release, watching streamers when a new raid dropped, getting excited for players to hear my work. It was a job, with plenty of frustrating bits. But I'll treasure the fond memories. Eyes up Guardians!

Getting to listen in on some truly legendary voice acting sessions! Nathan Fillion as Cayde-6, Nolan North crushing 350 lines in a single session, Lance Reddick as Zavala cracking jokes and talking about how he played a Warlock. Geeking out when Shohreh Aghdashloo was in the booth...

I even got to be part of the casting process after a while, and was really thrilled with some of the talent we got to add to our roster. @erikaishii.bsky.social is a stand out example! I was listening remotely to her first VO session as Ana Brey! And now they're headlining titles left and right!

Oh nice! My Zelda episode on Post Games is now freely available. It was fun and we covered a lot of ground in a short time, I was pretty proud of this one.

Did you know Zelda began in part as a multiplayer prototype? Or that Miyamoto considered a sci-fi story? I promise that even super fans will learn something new about the series from this historical deep dive with Zelda expert/historian/interview archivist @maxnichols.bsky.social!

I'm reminded of this observation -- Somewhere along that lower gradient men cease to see woman as people. And I sorta think it might be at about the 25% mark, to be honest.

Foley is not the same as sound design (although there is some overlap) and neither of those are the same as dialogue development, but they did record lines and efforts in this so I would say my workflow is represented.

ok #gameaudio people of the PNW, I have an ask of you. Our Sonic Landscape is coming up and I'm looking to spread the word. I would greatly appreciate if you would share this news with another audio person to let them know about it. especially if they aren't on this site. www.oursoniclandscape.com
