That democracy demands compromise over core values like whether genocide is good or not is completely invalidating of the entire project of democracy. Who fucking cares if lots of people voted to seize and bulldoze indigenous land? What's moral will never be up for a vote.
it’s very weird to be a theorist who focuses on the politics of interpersonal relationships from the angle i do. many others in the field are like “how can we keep/repair all the relationships” and i’m here like “how can we facilitate the end of all the relationships that desperately need ending?”
We frequently talk about how casting a vote is incredibly inefficient by comparison to direct action and decentralized organizing. But both electoralism and the nonprofit sector are also built around immense concentrations of cash flow and thus structurally unavoidable oceans of grift.
Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, a consultant class is raiding the Democratic Party and getting “generationally wealthy” along the way
New from me and @adambonica.bsky.socialnewrepublic.com/article/2163...
Just dropping this here, cause its good & relevant to the current discourse.
Really grateful to @vickyacab.bsky.social for this one, while the US isn't my context or where I live, the arguments contained are broadly applicable.
The increase in frequency of editorials like this and the "Liberal women need to settle for dating Conservative men or face a life of loneliness" is entirely because the tactics are working. Social pressure coming from the enforced loneliness is breaking MAGA and they are desperate to stop the loss.
why do we bash "dead beat" children for not being there for their parents but we never question if the parent has bad vibes? or if they're just unpleasant to be around?
In Paris, the uprising continues. On October 18, masses of people once again took to the streets.
Crowds gathered at Place de la République and in the surrounding streets, erecting barricades as police deployed large amounts of tear gas. 🧵
Fascism reflects eternal drives within humanity towards rape, genocide, slavery, etc, but it is distinct from all those prior power-seeking tendencies in its experience of modernity.
Fascism is the *reaction* those drives for power have when they glimpse anarchism -- the total abolition of power.
Folks complain about rising illiteracy on social media, but I think the deeper issue isn't inability to parse straightforward sentences but a cultivated unwillingness to model different viewpoints and social contexts.
Performative dunking rewards *not bothering to understand* the enemy.
After being brought down by the noblogs shutdown, my website is finally back and prettier than ever ✨ This is where you can find an archive of my work as well as a theory library collection of nearly 300 articles and books!

Voting consolidates the power of our whole society in the hands of a few politicians, keeping everyone else in a position of dependence.
Through direct action, we become familiar with the resources and capabilities and initiative of our communities, discovering how much we can accomplish together.
New: I pulled the Character ai bankruptcy documents. They show:
- They were spending $14 million/month on compute alone at a time their revenue was around ~$1 million/month
- Currently losing $9 million a month
- They admitted they enshittified & that it didnt work

It's generally accepted that if Lean code compiles, then the theorem that the code implements must be true. But the problem there is that there's no way to actually guarantee that a given pile of Lean code really *is* the same thing as the NL argument being made in a given paper.
The era of Smol Bean Fascism truly is upon us. Whether somebody is a Muskite Nazi, a Bibi Apologist, a Trump Klanner, or a Mosely Wannabe like this dope here, it's actually rude and unfair of *you* to point out that they have abhorrent, murderous beliefs
No shade to this guy but a politician’s job has never been “to protect us” and the sooner people realize it the sooner we can get to actually dismantling this system.
With feminism and anarchism both, mass appeal will never be a viable option. We are fighting to change everything and so everything is against us. That doesn’t mean our movements are doomed to fail, not at all, it just means we need to take that asymmetry into account and strategize accordingly.
I think it's increasingly obvious that LLMs are a dead end and this wave of AI is not the beginning of anything. And I'm quite surprised by those who think otherwise.
I spent a year watching school administrators do their jobs—and interviewing the students most impacted.
I spoke to @thecut.com in a long-form Q&A about what I saw. Mainly, a system designed to protect perpetrators and punish victims in each and every case.
God I wish Mark Fisher had lived long enough to have to actually answer for writing an entire fucking essay in support of this fucking freak
Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
Liberal "abolitionists" really believe in this absurd binary.
There really needs to be a deep accounting for everyone involved in twisting anarchism's "fire to the prisons!" into "the only alternative to prisons is forgiveness and forced silence." (Hint: a fuck ton of Christians were involved.)
If I’m against centering “accountability” and the “restoration” of abusers and rapists, what is it I think should be done about them?? Well, I lay exactly that out in this piece here. Use the tactics of anti-fascism! butchanarchy.medium.com/tactics-for-...
Seeking “accountability” as a political goal does not appeal to me. Not on a macro or a micro scale. I don’t take responsibility for changing hearts or minds. And, too often, it seems to run cover for certain styles of intimate coercion. When my enemies make themselves I take them at their word.
Reminder that “carceral logic” is literally about state and medical *incarceration* in its various forms. It is NOT a shorthand for “any social consequences happening at all.” If a response doesn’t include involving organized authoritarian apparatuses and agents: it’s not carceral!
make no mistake: anyone telling you AI is “just like the dot com bubble” or “just like Amazon web services or uber” is beyond misinformed, verging into the realms of actually wanting to know less about the world. It means they have never actually looked at any of the numbers. Or they can’t count.
The poltical pressure to capitulate on PPE is immense: on every individual who wears masks, on every event that requires it, on every social group that maintains it as a norm. The goal is to wipe every trace of what we remind them of from awareness. To mask is a regular practice in resistance.
Let’s not forget that the precautions we associate with Covid (clean air, PPE like masks) were *lessons* more of us learned in the earlier stages of the pandemic. Lessons that, applied, can protect from many other viral illnesses and create greater access for immunocompromised people.
SO much love for the covid cautious spaces that maintain their shared principles under enormous pressure to capitulate. When organizers commit to accessibility they send the message that the participation of disabled agitators is understood as critical.
AI has lost the Mandate of Heaven I’m afraid. WSJ saying it’s a “when” the ai bubble bursts. SNL dabbing on their biggest names for being weird. FT says 50% of chips sold in 2026 and 2027 have nowhere to go. Hundreds of billions short on revenue for even 10% ROIC. A disaster.
Everyone hates on the Democrats for being feckless and incompetent.
But it is conceivable that one day they *won't* be. We could very well see a Democratic party become vigorous and effective at pursuing their central values: defending power and destroying the left.
What a surprise, the organizers of the covid cautious dyke bar hated the article, rejected its framing, and is defending their covid cautious patrons and performers. Anyone who joined in on the viral harassment campaign started by Jesse Singal wanna say oops or…?

Something tells me that the organizers of this covid cautious lesbian space—who, per the article, made great efforts to maintain it as a covid cautious lesbian space—wouldn’t appreciate this difficult moment being used to trash on covid cautious queer people in general.
