Galatians 5:12. Abolish ICE.

I suspect that Donald is holding rallies in deep red states like Mississippi not just because polls hint at a blue wave, but so that his handlers will be able to pat his head next week and tell him “There there, you went to Mississippi and we won! See? You’re still a very special boy!”

No no no — if you REALLY want to show that Obama’s mockery of the gaudily gilded Oval Office was elitist, then what you, the red-blooded, white-skinned, Real American common folk need to do is start gluing “golden” gewgaws to every wall of your homes too. THAT would prove your point.

Maybe I just missed seeing it -- has anyone resigned from Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign after that ad came out? I mean, I'm not expecting Republican campaign staff to have moral/ethical boundaries, but you'd think there'd at least be someone indignant about the foolish tactical choices being made.

When Cornerstone’s excellent investigation first exposed Mike Warnke’s fraud my first reaction was “Well, yeah, *he’s a joke thief.* Nothing is beneath a guy like that.”

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

I appreciate that his Satanic Panic fictions wound up cited in court, sending dozens of people to prison for imaginary crimes in a grievous injustice and that’s also bad. But that was *after* he’d recorded an album where he tried to pass off Carlin’s driveway/parkway bit as his own material. So.

A “Willow Creek” Christmas tree sounds like it’s going to grow to massive size and then start to wither from various leadership scandals a few decades later. But at least it’s not as tacky and plastic-seeming as the “Lakewood” tree.

Theory: Trump resembles a movie/TV villain because generations of writers based villainous characters on him (at least in part). Elon et. al. resemble movie/TV villains because they do not understand stories and thus have deliberately chosen to emulate those villainous characters.

Trades. crafts, apprenticeships all gaining in respect as alternatives to absurdly expensive college ... unless the trade in question is perceived as women's work. Cosmetology doesn't pay as a craft/trade because it is licensed & regulated in a way that ensures it doesn't.

Bluesky's "trending" blurbs seem written in a desperate attempt to counter criticism of the platform as some kind of progressive bubble, but it winds up giving us bland pudding like "Fans react to baseball game." Who talks like that?

The kicker is you can tell it would never even dawn on this Republican senator or his staff that a man might want to go to a women’s sporting event. But protect women’s sports or something!

A phenomenal moment in the Senate. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta. Smith denies it. Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury. Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland. WATCH IN FULL, UNINTERRUPTED

I don't think you get to just decide to call yourselves "Rationalists" and say you're advocating "Rationalism" and expect that everybody else is supposed to just swallow that uncritically and defer to your superior rationality. That's not how that works, even apart from the orgies and whatnot.

If Boston Dynamics had set tens of thousands of its robot dogs loose, just to see what happens, I would think they'd be in some kind of legal and/or financial trouble.

Great reporting and honest language here from Bob Smietana. No "racially tinged" mush mouth talk. No caviling with "critics say" hedging. Self-evident evils are discussed as such, not as "controversies." He gives words and sinners the dignity of meaning what they mean.

I knocked on doors for Susan Crawford, the progressive Wisconsin Supreme Court justice candidate. Every time I mentioned that Musk supported her opponent, they said, “I’ll support her.” It’s an absolute gimme.

"My opponent wants to hire creeps to inspect your daughter's genitals if she wants to play soccer. I wouldn't trust him or any hired weirdo from his pedophile-protecting party alone in a room with any kid." Go on the offensive, you cowards! It's not that hard!

Max Kennerly@maxkennerly.bsky.social

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

Younger associates at the Big Box don't trust the new database for locating overstock inventory because even though it's just a database -- a glorified spreadsheet fed by OCR of digital photos of our overheads -- it keeps getting described as "A.I." and those Gen Z associates don't trust "A.I."

The current tendency to hype every decades-old computerized function -- a searchable database -- as "A.I." or "powered by A.I." winds up casting doubt on useful programs that actually work fairly well (even if it's still faster to just, you know, ask the freight team where stuff is).

In a time when antisemitism is increasing on the far left and the mainstream right, and when Islamophobia is at a fever pitch in the US and the UK, Bonnie Kristian keeps an eye on what's really important: Defending white evangelicalism.
