making games so you can hopefully afford to make more games is literally a different industry from grinding up people so number goes up and it is harmful to pretend otherwise regardless of whether or not we share a platform or a binary format

Its forever been the wildest thing being at games conferences -especially the largest ones- and the talk schedule is like - creating sincere art from playful naivete - balancing passion and health - how to dodge parental controls when monetizing toddlers - regrets from my 1st commercial codebase

JOYCE MESSIER - “Of bodies of water and forest-covered surfaces, clusters of light where the cities lie. You've seen the montage, we all have -- this world is enough,” she concludes. CONCEPTUALIZATION - It *must* be. This is the greatest and kindest arrangement the atoms had in them.

LRP: I like building relationships with authors over individual works; I like seeing voices grow over time. The commercial indie ecosystem is swamped with "I worked on one game for six years and I'm so burnt out I'm never gonna make anything else." That's the opposite of what I want as a player.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

i won't be supporting the game for ethical reasons but honestly "Jonathan Blow Presents Sokoban" feels like one of the many punishments i'll face when i finally go to Hell

one thing you learn from making a lot of things is that the nitty gritty details, the millions of tiny invisible decisions, ARE the art. The "higher level ideas" are not nearly as important or interesting

"AI lets you focus on the higher level ideas!!" because we all grew up dreaming of becoming managers and CEOs we all know the real artists at the very highest level are the shareholders, famously full of amazing ideas

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

one of my favorite things on earth are considered, complete freeware games you can jump into sight unseen and go on a full journey in 5-15 minutes. there is zero institutional or critical support for the form, so when artists persevere and get real good at making 'em anyway it makes me very happy

Numpad notation is like "Metroidvania", it has problems but everytime someone brings up an alternative it's worse.
