I am now safe after being detained and interrogated by Israeli forces and denied entry to Palestine alongside other activists and elected representatives. I will share a fuller statement tomorrow. The @scottishgreens.org stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Fecking warmongering government

World BEYOND War@world-beyond-war.bsky.social

The UK government says the country has 1,000 days to prepare for war. That's 1,000 days to invest in diplomacy, conflict prevention, and de-escalation. Why is the government talking about war readiness as though war itself is inevitable? www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Jon Kay to Jonathan Reynolds: "You're planning to remove import taxes from products like chocolate, gherkins, marmalade. Your own figures say that will save the average household 40p a week. At a time when [bills] are going up, do you really think people are going to notice 40p a week?"

I want to ask reporters what else exactly they want from Beth Upton. They wanted her booted out of female changing rooms, they got it. They wanted her on trial for misconduct, they got it, she was found totally blameless. They wanted her publicly named and shamed in the media, they got it…

I want to remind people about the Israeli elections. Eight Political Parties, 8! Every single one refuses to recognise a Palestinian State and claims Gaza and the West Bank as Israel, while refusing to leave Lebanon or Syria. All to be achieved with Ethnic Cleansing/Genocide.

This is reporting from The Guardian. I want you to imagine if a Palestinian said this about Jewish people. So much to unpack here.

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

Kevin Maguire is spot on, all this talk about people stocking up is part of a wider lobbying campaign to increase defence spending. And as Kevin points out, the UK is already the 6th biggest defence spender in the world.

If you're even unsure of who to vote for in any given election, you probably won't go far wrong by checking which candidate has suddenly had their Facebook and X accounts suspended in the run-up to the vote, and voting for whoever that person is

Reminder that they also did this to Zack Polanski during the Holborn & St. Pancras by-election. Can't help but wonder that was a test run for future elections, such as the one that's just taken place in Brazil

The working class are the wealth creators, by making things and providing services. The people who own businesses make profit. That's not wealth creation. Banks and government create money not businesses. Giving them tax breaks etc just funnels that money out of the economy.

Chancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics live

theguardian.comChancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics liveJohn Healey is expected to cut red tape requirements, particularly for smaller businesses Good morning. A week today John Healey, the chancellor, will be doing a media round defending the budget he is presenting on Wednesday next week. Ahead of that, he has given an interview to Patrick Maguire from the Times. As you would expect, there is no real detail in it about the measures he will be presenting to MPs. But the big picture message is very clear – and quite surprising, coming from a chancellor serving a PM who in some respects is steering left compared to his predecessor. Healey says that he wants to be on the side of bloody-minded entrepreneurs who make a profit, he acknowledges that government has made their life harder over the past two years, and he suggests that cutting the ‘cost of living’ for business is just as important as cutting the real cost of living for families. In the quote that gives the Times its splash headline, Healey says: I want to be a chancellor who backs business in Britain making a profit, and those entrepreneurs who, in the end, are the ones who challenge the status quo, come up with innovative ideas and are trying, some of them through sheer bloody-mindedness, to keep going through these sorts of pressures … If you’re not making a profit, you’ve got nothing to put back into the business. And for the people who start up these businesses, the ones who really thrive and grow, they have to make a profit — and they will be much more inclined to put it back into their own business. But we want it to grow here and stay here. If you talk to any of the businesses that have come in and have either had one-to-ones or round tables with me, I have recognised that in recent times there’s been a lot of pressure: employment law, regulation, tax, input costs, supply chains. And so when I talk about the cost of business, and recognising that in the same way as we’re recognising the cost of living pressures, I’m conscious of that as I go into the budget for both businesses and households. [Healey] is expected to use the budget to make significant cuts to regulation on businesses that one senior Treasury source described as “the sludge choking firms”. Reporting requirements are likely to be abolished for many smaller enterprises, The Times understands. Continue reading...

We have vast sums of money 💴 to buy over inflated weapons of war but very little to reverse the Food Bank shame that tars a wealthy society. Politicians are not acting in our best interests if they can’t or won’t reverse the evils of Neoliberalism. 🤨🤨🤨
