I, an inteligent man, just presumed all rectangular flags were in the same ratio. I was wrong.

If nothing else, it shows the Irish flag in its proper ratio 1:2. It annoys me when they use 3:4!

Today 300,000+ public sector workers are on strike, the largest in 15 years. The pay deal expired on 30/06/2026, talks haven't started, and the cost of living keeps rising. Solidarity with the workers who keep us going. 🧵 1/5 #Speirgorm #Cork

Closed or disrupted: schools, colleges and universities, non-urgent hospital and community care, most court business, OPW heritage sites and parks, RSA driving tests.

The Green Party supports union members who have been driven to take strike action this Wednesday. The Government needs to stop posturing, recognise that workers have been hit by months of inflation, and deliver a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.

Bit of positive news to start the week: the online voter registration system voter.ie is now live nationwide (having previously worked only for Dubliners) - now anyone in the State can register or update their details on the electoral register in a couple of minutes using only their PPS number.

Great update from Cllr Dan Boyle here on plans to stop parking on the new public square at South Main Street. Can't come soon enough! #Cork

Question Submitted at South Central LAC Meeting on 28th September 2026 To ask the Chief Executive to state what measures are and have been taken to discourage and prohibit the parking of vehicles at Lambley's Lane and on the forecourt of The Counting House, South Main Street? (Cllr. Dan Boyle)

When will political Unionism realise that Jamie Bryson is undermining its cause at every opportunity? He is a self serving parasite, with a record worse than Spurs start to this season.

This gets more and more dangerous. I watched a driver exit here this evening by driving along the footpath and cycle lane to bypass traffic on the road. #Cork

Eoin Lettice@eoinlettice.bsky.social

We need to have conversation about how this new 'public' square at South Main Street has been taken over by parking. The adjacent Lambley's Lane (leading to the new Cumann na mBan Bridge) is just as bad. Drive thru library anyone? #Cork

A tenner a week for ordinary people in #Budget27 while corporations get €186 million in Capital Gains Tax reductions, €120 million in R&D tax credits. And if you have a shedsit, it's now called a "Designated Auxiliary Dwelling" and you don't have to pay any taxes on it!

This march was designed to spread tensions and hatred, and to intimidate the community and families who live there. Scotland should not be providing policing resources for sectarian events like this that are called to inflame tensions.

Newspapers should be required to fact check their columnists. Anti-train columnist Colm McCarthy claims that the only publicly available cost benefit analysis of MetroLink is from a preliminary assessment in 2022. An updated cost benefit analysis was published last week.
