1st day at Burger King, watched a few BK Uni training videos then they put me directly on the lunch rush while most of the crew took a break. Left my neatly folded up uniform on the manager's office chair the next day. I suppose that was meant to be a trial by fire, but I wasn't dying for $4/hr.

My parents were watching it on cable. I had already been sent to bed (was only 6 or so,) but I snuck back to watch by hiding on the side of the couch. Big regrets when it came time to actually go to bed! 😂

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Fugazi (showed up to venue assuming it wouldn't be sold out) Pop Will Eat Itself (took the day off but procrastinated on starting the 3hr drive to the venue) Foo Fighters (conflicted with meet-n-greet with Pigface who I was seeing later that night) Stone Temple Pilots (new job, no PTO)

How about this? Best concerts that you ALMOST got to see but DIDN’T. Include reasons if you like: Rolling Stones (play rehearsal) Johnny Cash (I dallied) R.E.M. (play performance) Nirvana (canceled, college declined to pay requested $500 appearance fee)

It seems his work is not finished

NEW: Teen boys are using smart glasses — mainly Meta's AI Glasses — to film themselves harassing classmates at school, following girls around and "rizzing" them or "ragebaiting" them w/ insults. In several videos we reviewed, girls plead w/ the poster to stop filming. futurism.com/artificial-i...

I mean, maybe they need that co-pay to feed their kids instead because your boss doesn't think about Americans' financial situations.

Dr Oz on ACA "fraud" -- "Of the people who signed up, 40% never use the insurance. Let me ask you, John, you have health insurance -- do you use it once a year? In Obamacare right now 40% of the people ostensibly signed up never use the insurance ... we have a lot of fake people on the policies"

If the point is to make all districts the same, why even have a House at all?

Rep. Ralph Norman: "Jim Clyburn, I like him personally, but he does not represent the rest of South Carolina, which is conservative. His district is close to 47% African American."

The fact that "being taxed on a wealth that would take most people dozens of generations to gather" is "the scariest thing she's ever seen" means the world isn't scaring millionaires and billionaires nearly enough yet.

Jared Holt@jaredlholt.bsky.social

Zohran Mamdani said he's going to start taxing rich people who buy luxury housing in NYC but don't actually live in there, and the former CEO of Twitter/X called it "actually one of the scariest things I have ever seen."

I wanted a way to explore Unicode by visual similarity, not just by name or codepoint, so I built Charcutrie. It lets you browse characters that look alike, search across scripts and symbols, and even sketch a shape to find matching glyphs. (pretty badly for now :D) charcuterie.elastiq.ch#U+221E
