Christmas lights! 😁 As the young lad tasked with finding the "one" bulb that stopped the rest working, the LED lights has been a God send!

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

@davidallengreen.bsky.social Appreciate this may not be one you want to opine on, but is there anyone you could suggest who could make sense of the reasoning behind this judgment?

Dan Neidle@danneidle.bsky.social

A new High Court judgment has blown a large hole in the regulation of the solicitors' profession. The Solicitors Regulation Authority will now have great difficulty investigating SLAPP, and other cases where a client's solicitor harms other parties.

Have deleted a post from earlier. Some have pointed out it gave the impression that I was demeaning the experiences that people have had on another social media platform. While it was not my intention, I don't want the suggestion to even exist either.

One for the "History won't be kind to Starmer" camp.

I don't like even seeing this, but I feel it must be RP so people understand that Unite the Kingdom is no such thing. It's full of hate and division and men who would cheerfully take away all rights except theirs.

If this isn't "designed to stir up hatred" against Jews, what is? Why are the Met not arresting them?

The King has done as well as anybody could in Washington. But we're kidding ourselves if we think the visit will make any difference to anything. Most of it will have gone above Trump's head. If he does notice the rebukes, he'll be annoyed. Most likely, he basically forgets any of it even happened.

This doesn't appear to have been given much consideration by commentators this week. Seems quite damning on certain parts of the Civil Service, imho Olly Robbins refused to give Mandelson vetting summary to Cabinet Office, says Cat Little | Civil service | The Guardian share.google/Sml1WrzcDddV...

This, ultimately is the point, however it is dressed up by various political commentators, even some of the "good" ones.

This isn't a business. Starmer critics have spent a week telling everyone that Robbins would definitely bring a paper trail that proved the PM was lying. How hard is it to just accept, on one occasion, that the thing your bias hoped for didn't materialise?

FWIW, it seems to me that Starmer's main failing is to expect a level of professionalism among his staff that he experienced as DPP. He doesn't have this, clearly, and is still trying to adapt. Few are saying he isn't making mistakes, but the existentialism surrounding those mistakes is profound.

A lot of people spent days going "OMG OMG OMG popcorn at the ready SiR kEiTh obvs lying; Olly Robbins has the receipts". Now they're like "too clever to get caught, they did it with VIBEZ." From "Starmer is really bad at politics" straight to "Starmer is Machiavelli reincarnated" - like every week.

This is the default configuration of Samsung TV. GB News has bought prime spot. What this meant was that racist chat entered my front room yesterday ("foreign NHS workers can't speak English").at 6.30pm with my six year old listening. How can Ofcom just sit back and let this happen?

@mikegalsworthy.bsky.social Has your opinion changed in light of this afternoon's exchanges?

I have a feeling that the British public are closer to the Starmer position on Iran than this gung-ho commentary suggests www.express.co.uk/news/politic...

I hope that the likes of @iandunt.bsky.social who was so vocal yesterday (to an extent understandably so) now review their original comments in light of this information. May still disagree with the ultimate decision, but at least with a better understanding of why it was taken.

Thread 1. US & Isreal begin strikes with no clear legal basis - UK stays out of it. 2. Initial strikes fail to bring swift end and Iran strikes back. 3. Those retaliatory strikes start to target civilians (including UK ones) and UK military/bases. 🧵 1/4

I am not dunking on this account but it's important to explain a couple of things that they haven't understood. There are only two ways to defend against a ballistic missile. Either shoot it down, or stop it launching. We're not in a position to do the first, which leaves only the second. 1/n

Can someone ask Farage or Zia Yusuf why, if they're so concerned about incitement to violence, they had Lucy Connolly as a guest star at their conference?

Amazing bit of 2019 footage this. Frei doing a great job of trying to hold Farage to account as he and Nathan Gill go walkabout. And I suspect Farage will come to regret his quip at the end about Russians if it does the rounds again.

Nathan’s mate Nigel sure did seem to want to brush it all away when questioned by Matt Frei back in 2019.

Let's hang Farage's "ICE-style enforcement" around his neck like a concrete albatross. Let's show people what that looks like. A majority does not want this.

Best for Britain@bestforbritain.org

Is this the "ICE style deportation enforcement" that Farage has in mind? Does this seem like a happier, safer place to you? Machine-gun armed militias, with faces covered, yanking people into unmarked cars? The full Mark Stone report is a must-watch👇🏽. ~AA www.youtube.com/watch?v=KolI...

I always love it when people get up on their high horse about this, because I do know lots of people who were Tories for decades and are now Reform and let me tell you, getting to know them is a highly instructive and helpful experience with many useful lessons. Give me a minute here.

Fully expect the likes of Badenoch, Farage and Tice to call this out, saying people should be "out on the streets" to protect their wives, daughters and mothers from this sex offender........

Rather than go straight to Twitter, Starmer picked up phone to both presidents. That’s the role he wants to play & is uniquely able to do so. PM will keep trying everything to get Trump & Zelensky into a better place, as he did in Washington, as he did last night & will continue to do this weekend
