Mixed day. Had some disappointing conversations and interactions. Also, fell into an entertaining photo walk I'm calling "Don't Rank Torres". If you're in D3 and you haven't voted, yet. Don't rank her. Don't put any marks whatsoever on the row with her name. She is bad mojo. @chalkgirl.bsky.social

The distinction between Cassandra warning about the Trojan horse and Cassandra running a successful Trojan horse distribution business is that the latter probably has some explaining to do.

We have a policy proposal to support small businesses and address affordability, and to raise millions for things like parks, transportation safety, violence prevention, Portland Street Response, and summer programs for youth and seniors. Portlanders want this. Here are some powerful testimonials.

The Fair Share Tax is coming to the Committee of the Whole this Thursday for debate and possibly a vote (agenda item 5). We need your help to get it passed out of committee. Here's how you can support: 1) Submit written testimony 2) Email your lawmakers 3) Join us in chambers this Thursday

Working people deserve a fair share. Portlanders pay more for rent, groceries, and utilities. Small businesses are fighting to stay open. Meanwhile, CEOs collect enormous paychecks. Why should working people keep carrying the burden while corporations pay less?

Conway's law's second order effect + Goodhart's law is a particularly nasty combo. Now imagine that applied to agentic work. And then to the agile process managing agentic work.

Kellie Torres is the only person on stage who explicitly said she would have supported using PCEF funds for police funding had it made the ballot. Note: this directly contradicts Torres' claim that she supports 350PDX's Climate Justice Platform.

BAIER: The president says 'SI.' Are you into SI or AI? BEZOS: I do like SI, because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.

What are you trying to hide Dan?

Dan Ryan is under a court order not to delete messages from his personal phone, which may contain public records. In court documents, Ryan said he no longer has the phone he's been using, because his spouse traded it in the same day a judge barred him from deleting records. He says nothing was lost.

More than half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Starbuck's CEO took home $31 million - 1,794 times more their median worker. Live Nation's CEO made $33 million - 976 times the median pay. The system has been rigged against the working class, but the Fair Share Tax starts to change that.

Our Fair Share Tax proposal is coming to Committee of the Whole this Thursday morning at 9:30. If you think it’s a good idea to cut taxes for small businesses, raise taxes on large mega corporations, while raising more money to fund critical services then we need to hear from you.

When I set out to fact check “The Cities That Said Yes to Drugs” which argues that harm reduction may increase overdoses, I expected some cherry picking and misdirection. But not to find basic math errors and debunked right wing talking points asserted as fact in the Atlantic’s print edition.

Of course, sometimes it IS appropriate in Apocalypse World to use "acting under fire" when you're cooking a meal. For instance, when someone's shooting at you while you cook. When somebody's shooting at you while you cook, I think it's okay for a 7-9 to be a kind of failure instead of a success...

It’s not just anonymous sources (tho we are in the business of citing people who know what they’re talking about); one of Trump’s top pollsters is on the record throwing cold water on the GOP-wide 2026 anti- Hasan piker electoral strategy which is still going strong at the NRSC, etc. He then…

IBR funding exceeds TriMet funding. The IBR hasn’t even broken ground yet.

Anyone concerned about waste, fraud and abuse at TriMet should look at the “project delivery” slice (5x the budget for all transit in Oregon) and wonder how much WFA can be found in that slice IBR funding exceeds TriMet funding!

This is exactly why I always say that instead of having sales-oriented people promising customers features they're asking for and then forcing devs to implement them, you have to involve the devs by asking the customers to explain the reason why they actually want these features -
