Meta recently updated their terms of service to require any businesses that use their products to turn over their intellectual property in exchange for access to their platforms. I’m urging Meta to reverse this decision and compensate creators and publishers for their work.

fun fact: in 1992, berkley replaced columbus day with Indigenous Peoples day. then no other city or state did until 2014,when i was a policy aide for Alondra Cano and some friends and i convinced her to pass the resolution in Minneapolis. i got to write it and plan the celebration.

The five biggest defense contractors spent more than $100B on buybacks and dividends since 2020. I have a simple question for defense contractors: If taxpayers are giving you billions to build military equipment, why are you buying back your own stock? This needs to stop.

With my mom, I made it so she couldn’t see texts from numbers that weren’t already programmed in her phone. I think it helped. But then I saw the amount of sad AI slop on her Facebook. It’s literally elder abuse. Her texts were mostly GOP, but they sound like an abusive, controlling ex.

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.

just another reminder that if you don’t like the idea of amy klobuchar as governor of Minnesota, your best course of action is to head to a swing house or senate district and get on the doors help get those caucuses so strong that Amy’s power as governor means less

Special interests think they can buy this Senate seat. They've spent $20 million to do it. But I have seen what Minnesotans can do when we organize together. So when it comes down to the many or the money, I'm betting on us.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

$37.5 billion dollars is almost 5 years of WIC funding. we could feed the most vulnerable women and children in our country for five years for what they’ve spent on five months of useless war.

Paul Byrne@theplanetaryguy.com

The U.S. Secretary of Defense just stated that—so far—the war with Iran has cost $37.5 billion dollars. That's since February. That same amount is how much the United States spent on planetary science from FY2013 through FY2026 inclusive. Thirteen years of planetary science or five months of war.

You can and should point out that police killing people daily is the "norm" in America. But that doesn't mean you *accept* the normalization of this violence and the way some people rush to smugly point these things out contributes to collective fatigue. Your horror has been stolen from you.

One of the better decisions they made in K-Pop Demon Hunters was to make a fun self-contained story with quirky endearing characters and simple yet affecting emotional stakes that serve as a good hook for catchy music and fun frenetic action sequences. Other films should maybe try that.
