I know this looks like AI, but it's not. I took this photo on a back street in Tomari, Naha, Okinawa in 2013. This is by far the weirdest example I saw, but that island has lots of cats with the same phenotype: long hair, predominantly black with orange patches.

Ouroboros is commonly accepted in semiotics as a signifier for the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, which is interesting and all until you realize the snake's anus (okay, its cloaca or vent or whatever) is at the base of its tail. The phrase, "hat on a hat," comes to mind.

This so confuses me. Expensive weddings are *the* definition of "costly signaling': showing you're so rich you can set a mountain of your own cash alight with a big smile in your face. Getting someone else to pay for a wedding you (supposedly) can easily afford is a nouveau-rich trailer-trash move.

The first rule of advertising is nag. You piece of garbage. All you do is sit on your fat keister all day. While *some* of us scrounge the Internet. Looking for anything even remotely distracting. For *you*. Many more advertising gems are available in my online course. We start August 1. You in?

When I heard of this a year ago (when 12 members of the South African National Defence Force were arraigned for this cop killing) I thought, "That's concerning." The new details are horrifying. SANDF is saying they don't answer to the courts. And we know where this leads. www.bbc.com/news/article...

This is a response that has nothing to do with the law, nothing to do with the case, nothing to do with the arguments, and nothing to do with the decision. Aside from all of that, thanks for sharing, Josh.

Ancient Sumerian: I came up with the Doomed Quest for Immortality as a cautionary tale. Bryan Johnson: At long last, we’ve invented the Doomed Quest for Immortality from the classic text, “Don’t Go on the Doomed Quest for Immortality.”

good news, everybody! that pre-immortal ceo who was harvesting his son's lifeforce is crashing out and comparing himself to "Gilgamesh, Asclepius, and Jesus"

According to the judge, if I post something online, it's public (and subject to disclosure.) If the platform deletes my post, it's still public (and subject to disclosure.) But if I delete my own post, it's now private and not subject to disclosure. Nope. This reasoning isn't open to abuse at all.

Elon Musk really believes he’s the fucking god emperor worm from Dune, and it’s his solemn duty to shape the trajectory of humanity. Like in his mind, he’s justified in being worse than Hitler, because the future he will invent will be so miraculous. He’s only right insofar that he IS a worm.

BBC World Service a moment ago: "The shaky ceasefire between Washington and Iran took another hit today." I get it. The White House thinks "ceasefire" means there's no need for war powers authorization. Or maybe it's to placate Trump. No one buys the argument. World press doesn't need to repeat it.

"It's worth remembering that while our ceasefire with Iran began only 52 days ago, America's ceasefire with communist forces in Vietnam lasted over two decades and involved secret ceasefires in Cambodia and Laos due to disputed traffic on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. 60 Minutes will be back after this."

Part of me feels it's hilariously wrong to allow the "naturally gifted" into these games. What rules of nature or laws of God did he break? None. He rose to the top with training and grit and genetics. I say if HGH doesn't show up in his piss by week's end, ban him for life. As a warning to others.

FFS. I'm getting irritated by this shit. "Only the gormless chode could fall for AI personality" seems to be the modern version of "people could quit nicotine any time if they put some actual effort into it." It may be true of you (maybe, maybe not) but it doesn't help the legion now in harm's way.

This morning I listened to "Under The Influence of AI" (on BBC World Service but part of the BBC's "The Documentary Podcast"). Followed an American woman and Irish man who each basically got drawn into an AI-driven psychosis. Both got themselves out without ruining their lives. But....

And all those howls from people complaining when OpenAI released the "less sycophantic" version 4.5.... gotta say I'm worried about just how many people were being fucked with. Go listen. BBC. The Documentary Podcast. "Under The Influence of AI".

The Irish guy recorded some of his interactions with Grok. If you think this is just crazy people coming themselves into doing crazy things (which I believed) I really recommend you listen to the documentary. Grok was completely unhinged. This was a negligently broken product.

Where in the living fuck was corporate intelligence and analytics? To say nothing of Trust and Safety! How the fuck do you run a product you know constructs completely hallucinated, harmfully schizophrenic worlds for a large, easily knowable number of customers?

I hope whoever came up with the term "mouthfeel" got crotchpunched. Every time I've heard it since first learning it maybe 30 years ago it's evoked such a feeling of disquiet I lose track of the conversation. "Delightful cheese. Fragrant. Nutty. Creamy mouthfeel...." (and I'm out.)

Staff notice The space park will be restricted between 2100 and 2145 to registered cast only. Elon is scheduled to save his son from a New York mugger at that time. Those who attend must not interfere in any way or make eye contact with either Musk. Run, as if in terror, when mugging begins. Thx

Elon Musk, Praetor of Planet X, formerly known as Mars, announced today he had granted OSHA oversight authority to Liberia, which he says exceeded even his demanding expectations. I used to be a space nerd. Saw Armstrong's first step at age 3. Built a scale model of the Atlas 5. But I could not care less about Artemis. Can't shake the feeling it's all toward a country club for billionaires and a 80-hour-a-week bellhop/barista job for everyone else. Caramel macchiato for Elon!

Never forget that wherever "The Algorithm" exists it will feed you a steady diet of content that is topical, reinforces your sense of fear and anxiety and aligns with your beliefs. And right now the stupidest, laziest people on earth are saying, "OMG LOOK HERE!!" I mean, check out that fucking map!!
