i cannot in good conscience link a minecraft drama video, but it's been discovered the UI hunger haunches jiggle on a fixed seed, meaning you can grab the session tick from the pattern and spot splicing ✂️

i think there's often a bit of confusion between a prototype and feasibility study. a prototype is where you test the unknowns that make your game unique. it's not a chore you want to get out of the way.

Steve Farrugia@fasterandworse.com

you can't automate prototyping because you can't automate design because you can't automate invention

spent a few hours today rewriting my cms system so it uses addressables, because apparently it's considered "bad" to load the whole game into memory on boot. neat trick: older builds of witching stone did not show the unity splash because it was frozen reading the uncompressed bgm.

I don’t know how people could say that programming and art are completely different disciplines when both workflows involve going ‘This will never work, I’m a failure’, changing one thing, then thinking you might be the smartest person alive

You have to laugh at the sheer insanity of Turning Point UK being found to be organising literal contract killings and paid agitation at protests up and down the country and it barely even raises a flicker across the press. If that isn't 'terrorism' on some level I don't really know what is

some of the touhou games send you to stage start on continue. i think that is better, it's like transitioning into a practice mode, but it still lets you smush a full stock into each stage and that isn't analogous to an actual clear

getting wires crossed with souls discourse: sweaty, if they didn't want you to use continues they wouldn't put them in the game

haven't been promoting sys:tan much. it is fun! but for a game i made in 2 months, where you mouseover squares for an hour, it seems weird to email people explaining how this will change their life.

i've released the sys:tan restore demo on steam. so you can play it there. store.steampowered.com/app/5001670/... the browser demo and full release versions are still available on itch. tayl1r.itch.io/systan-restore

i'm sorry but, without ai, anyone could clone the haystack, potato and wall punching games in a week. it is enabling unscrupulous actors and that sucks! a whole lot! but nobody is going to prompt revamp tomorrow and i'm worried this is cynical doomerism

Hey thanks for doing this! Be a little witch and find your way in Paradox Tower. I'm trying to bring the obscure genre of Magic Tower/WWA to a wider audience. It's made by 2 humans and meant to be played by humans able of emotions. It's super fun too. store.steampowered.com/app/4142360/...

My game – Ace & Aro: Heart-to-Heart – is a short, narrative experience where you attend an a-spec meetup, chat to characters, hear their stories, and play mini-games! The demo is set one night before the events of the full game. Try it out: store.steampowered.com/app/5213300/...

store.steampowered.comAce & Aro: One Night Early on SteamWelcome to the Ace & Aro Meetup! Oh, wait a minute...you're one night early! Well, since you came all this way, why not take a look around the barcade and try a cocktail? We could have a chat abou...

i didn't mean this seriously, like how the indiepocalypse didn't happen (except the zine for cool people), but i do wonder if the hustlers will realise this is not profitable or we'll have to adapt to this dross

all games should have aggressive contact damage. every game of counter strike with friendly fire turned on should turn into a blood bath at the spawn room door

🔥 HOT WAX is coming out on Oct. 29th!! 🔥 🕯️ Place candles. Light a wick. Burn it all down. ⛓️ Build chain reactions, then keep them running. 🧩 A fresh take on falling block arcade puzzlers. Wishlist (and try the demo!) at s.team/a/3041750 💖 #screenshotsaturday #pixelart

i'm so sorry, i will stop arguing on the internet. i was meant to be studying but instead of my usual cafe rotation i went to mcdonalds, as i craved the muffin, and it had a billon people in there who would see i was reading a baby book for babies so i Just Scrolled

a problem working solo is it can be hard to keep disciplined. when i’m motivated i blitz through work, but if i’m not motivated i have trouble getting started. but i have found a solution and it's a 300yen study timer.

the crazy thing about this trend is how badly this exposes that these people have the same attachment and awareness of video games as scalpers do for pokemon

This post is unavailable.

watched a julia sesame street episode. i knew nothing about her but clocked she was autistic (just like me fr) and thought it was handled really well

pains me to say it but nhke has nothing on this. there is very little educational in their 4 main shows. it has very well produced songs but they are cynically monetized though merch

i have been sick this week, while looking after a sick child who cannot sleep unless i am holding them upright, and this is definitely making me post things i'd usually put into drafts and then delete when the moment passes

r/gamedev is wild dude. you'll see a post like "i made a game in 4 weeks using claude, emailled 550+ people and i only have 80 wishlists" and everyone is like yeah man it's tough out there
