I think one reason it’s good to have a liberal arts education in the classic sense is that you don’t then spend time trying to invent the concept of “intellectual pursuits” from first principles

Unreal.

But if trans girls are "cheating" by playing women's sports, what else are the sneaky trans people cheating about. They're also coming for Title IX. They don't care about women in sports. They want women out of sports. Please, I am begging you, stop falling for this shit.

Before the NCAA capitulated to this nonsense and banned trans women from competing on women's sports teams, the head of the NCAA told a Senate panel that he knew of less than 10 athletes competing in sports in the NCAA. What are we fucking doing here, people. It's a non-issue.

Well, here’s the big reveal of the ‘October Surprise’ to tilt the election dynamics.

11. In essence, Trump asked a majority of voters to trade democracy and the rule of law for an IOU, and to the shock and horror of the civilized world, a majority of voters accepted.

Thoughts on the Nations league game that's apparently not teams representing their Nations but just teams of different Nations wearing their Nations jerseys and singing their Nations anthems and then saying afterwards how proud they are to represent their respective Nations.

Not only did I meet Robert Kraft, I worked for him. His kid Jonathan asked me to “remove the black music” from my gameday playlist in ‘94 & I refused so they fired me. I was the cheerleader director at the time. I sued them for wrongful termination and won. So yes, I know that motherfucker.

@conormckn.bsky.social Unsure if you check this, but reading your article about Rory’s diplomacy towards Trump, how about asking him a golf-related question on the subject? From what he has seen, how does Trump’s game compare to other amateurs who have continued to be club champions into their 70s?

This is really excellent. Very touching insights from Floyd on growing up Mennonite, his genuine struggle to understand what his parents and siblings seemed to innately accept (being born a sinner), and a real grace and lack of judgment from him about their differences. He’s such a great interview.

Fox News complains that underage teenage girls aren’t getting pregnant enough: “The problem is teens and young adults. From ages 15-19, the fertility rate is down 70% in the last 2 decades, which means we are telling people who are young not to have babies.”

Hey I'm not actually done talking about Dolly Parton. 🧵 Specifically I want to talk about her album 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs, released in 1980 (not the soundtrack to the film 9 to 5, that's a different thing). The whole album is about work, with most of the songs focused on a different type of worker.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

This is a complete distraction. Ireland cannot build a nuclear power plant fast enough to matter. Making a decision to do so would excuse punting on all the wind and solar things it can and must do. This is a lobby project of the tech industry to have something to say when building data centres.

Another one was back in 1990 (pre email) exchanging information with Aer Lingus head office back in Dublin about project issues with Kuwait Airways. As the replies came out on a teletype printer that the KU staff would see, we communicated sensitive stuff in (very basic) Irish. Pre Google Translate!

Working for British Airways in Heathrow in 1994 on their cargo system. One of the users of that system was the Ministry of Defense. When the Whitehall brass visited for project meetings, I (with my Irish accent) was sent to a different floor. Mind you, the IRA were mortar bombing LHR at the time.
