Congratulations to Archbishop Ronald Hicks on today’s installment and welcome to NYC. Archbishop Hicks and I share a deep and abiding commitment to the dignity of every human being and look forward to working together to create a more just and compassionate city where every New Yorker can thrive.

Counterpoint: Democrats want ICE razed more thoroughly than Carthage in 146 BC, the ideological territory in which it operates salted so thoroughly it never grows again, and every single one of these goons in front of a judge to face justice for their crimes.

Chuck Schumer@schumer.senate.gov

Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE: End the roving patrols and racial profiling. Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police. Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum. Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum. Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum. ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

They will create a world so dangerous that you feel you have no choice except to drive a car, or own a gun, or flee a country that they violently destabilized. And they will use that car, that gun, that decision to seek asylum as an excuse to shoot and kill you.

It’s time. I want the see Steve Kerr’s Warriors and Minneapolis’ Timberwolves agree that they simply cannot play this game tonight. A strike in solidarity with the besieged city and its murdered and abducted residents.

Another murder by immigration enforcement in my district. I am absolutely horrified that federal agents are targeting and executing our residents instead of protecting them. ICE and CBP must leave Minnesota immediately. Kristi Noem must be impeached. Enough.

They expect - they NEED - the people they threaten to fall in line, like the law firms and universities and media companies and billionaires and Congress did. If you say “No, make me,” they simply do not have a Plan B. TRUMP DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO MAKE YOU.

This is the way. 20 NY State Senators sponsor S8462/A8908 to ban masked law enforcement. (❤️ @patriciafahy46.bsky.social ; spread the word!) Why has it not passed? Andrea Stewart-Cousins thinks it's ok to take 6 months off from passing legislation in our current day and age.

it is impossible for mayors or cops to learn positive lessons about protest response because they all have two immovable beliefs: 1. it is evil and childish to hold police officers accountable for violent acts 2. cops must be present at all times during protests

ZachSCARY Johnson@zachstronaut.com

The lesson Frey and Walz were supposed to learn in 2020 was that sending riot police to a peaceful protest creates a confrontation that results in some dipshit cops shooting people in the eye with a gas canister which then we have to goddamn pay for in settlements while also our city burns.

there is no constituency that needs you to fall all over yourself to call Maduro illegitimate before you dare criticize Trump. Voters have been down this road before. No one thought Saddam Hussein was a nice guy. Criticism of Maduro at this stage correctly reads as a defense of Trump to most people.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad. The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.
