Great description of Luxon.

Pugwash.@lucky-lefty-nz.bsky.social

A CEO of a shampoo company should have the skill to sell the product to the wholesalers and to the consumer. This man couldn't sell a bucket of water to a man on fire, and he wouldn't have the ethics or the humanity to give him the water for free.

My most unpopular take of the week is that it's breaking my heart that City Gallery is opening with one exhibition that costs $25 per person. Free entry to art galleries, museums and libraries kind of saved my life as a teenager and definitely made me believe the arts were for me.

In truck company pockets. “Luxon did not want taxpayer funding going into a “white elephant. Where it makes sense that's really good but you need a concentration of population to make passenger rail work we're very committed to our 17 roads of national significance and we make no apology for that."

The starving of the towns and cities outside of NZ’s main half dozen is a great crime of the last 40 years – while places like Auckland just bloat and spread endlessly. Thank goodness one party is think about what they can offer the whole country – and how we all win from that.

Old mate here will never experience a gig (any gig, let alone a great one). He will never experience the joy of meeting someone who likes the same bands he does. He will never share an experience with another person. This is individualism taken to its most unedifying extreme

Who would’ve thought it? Build decent public transport and people use it.

You really would think that nations, and even cities for that matter, would rethink the temptation to flirt with far-right populist “reform” politicians selling “change” after watching the corrupt, fascist dumpster fire that is Donald Trump. Hurricanes are change. A flesh-eating disease is change.

Stop calling it a climate problem. Call it what it is: organized greed. The planet isn’t dying. It’s being killed for profit. The killers have names. And boardrooms. #ClimateJustice #StopEcocide

Spot on

The following public transport projects for NZ should be completely uncontroversial: - light rail in Auckland and Wellington - completing the electrification of the North Island Main Trunk and sparking the East Coast Main Trunk - Extending Te Huia to Tauranga and the Capital Connection to Whanganui

There *should* be light rail under construction from the railway station to Island Bay and Miramar but nooooo instead the worst people, obsessed with “four lanes to the planes”, are impeding the capital from becoming what it ought to be

When healthcare is run for profit, sick people are an asset and healthy profits are the goal. When it is run as a public service, healthy people are the goal. It's clear which one serves the country better (especially when so many of the providers in the private sphere are global businesses) #nzpol

I wish the media would stop saying it’s the ministry’s error. Its crappy law rushed through by cruel bullies who have then made sure there aren’t enough people to do the work that’s needed it’s Upston et al screwing up peoples lives because they can.

It's a highly contested field, but arbitrarily cutting adults' off from access to the social safety net is right up there with the worst of it.
