@dannybate.com and so, en passant, you settle the age-old question whether it’s pronounced GIF or GIF
And *inside* of tech there will not have been any payoff, either. They're just much deeper in denial than the rest of the industry.
Outside of tech there has been no financial payoff to US companies for using AI, now viewed as a margin-hurting cost center, as VC-backed firms burn more tokens (Torsten Slok/Apollo Global Management) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink

@coreybutler.com Hey Corey, is it just me or is the NVM4W support forum on Github currently closed? I have an issue with corepack/yarn under v2 that I can't seem to find anything helpful about anywhere, so I tried posting there, but apparently I can't do that, either. 🤔 github.com/nvm-windows/...

@xordev.com I've noticed that fragcoord on mobile (Firefox, iOS) has diminished usability b/c UI elements are user-selectable, so the browser leans towards treating them as text upon interaction/accidental long-taps, which highlights them, brings up the context menu, and generally gets in the way.

14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!
Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"
It's also important to remember that it did *not* take years for people to figure out how build viable business with the Internet. We're now six years into the "AI" madness, and still literally nobody is making any money. They keep claiming it's like the early Internet, but that's is just not true.
It's important to remember and repeat that no, we did *not* reject the Internet en masse and no, it was *not* unpopular. Long distance phone calls costs so much there was practically an underground market for phone cards. OF COURSE we loved the thing that gave us instant free global communication!

It does make sense: OpenAI was losing ground and mindshare to Anthropic. They are running out of money but couldn't IPO because SpaceX ruined it. This "our model is a Cyberweapon" is advertising directly to the Pentagon.
No, OpenAI's new magic models did not autonomously hack Huggingface. Per OpenAI's PR blog post (https://openai.com/index/hugging-face-model-evaluation-security-incident/):
