IRL I'm mistaken for a respectable person of sober judgment and sensible opinions. Not here. This account is for my goofiest takes. I like cats, books, science, and fun-crazy. I dislike hookworm, throat-singing, fundamentalism, and mean-crazy.

The Posse Comitatus Act bars federal troops from participating in civilian law enforcement except when expressly authorized by law. This 147-year-old law embodies an American tradition that sees military interference in civilian affairs as a threat to both Democracy and Personal Liberty.

He’s threatening media companies who are critical of him. He’s talking about sending Americans to foreign prisons. He’s signing executive orders to investigate former staff members who spoke out against him. He’s defying the Supreme Court. Don’t you see what’s happening here?

one of the more blatant, in your face fascistic moments trumps 2nd term has had yet, and that’s saying something. they are telling us they love that they are openly doing crimes against humanity. if the world doesn’t prosecute every single person involved in this, it will be a failure of humanity

COLLINS: Can President Bukele weigh in on this? Do you plan to return Garcia? BUKELE: How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Of course I'm not going to do it. The question is preposterous TRUMP: These are sick people

If Stephen Miller can lie about Abrego Garcia and his case on national TV, he can do it in federal court under oath. Judge Xinis should demand his appearance, question him under oath, then jail him for Contempt when he commits Perjury. This lawless administration has to be subjected to rule of law.

El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, mocked SCOTUS today showing just how much damage Trump has done to our country during the past 84 days. Only 1,376 days to go. Will the Republican Party do anything? How about Jill Stein and the Stein Shites? Protest voters? No? Well, that figures.

This is disgusting. Someone set fire to Shapiro’s home while he and his family were sleeping. I hope this person is caught quickly and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Trump just posted a new rant claiming the tariff exceptions on electronics announced late Friday aren’t actually exceptions and they’ll still get hit with tariffs.

Is he serious right now? Who enjoys firing federal workers and then teasing them on X? Who enjoys cutting VA workers? Who enjoys cutting Social Security? Who enjoys disowning their own kid because they are trans? Who enjoys giving Nazi salutes to a crowd for all to see? Shut the Fuck up, Elon! 🫵

Musk: I mean, have you Tim Walz, who is a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price.. What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?

Today, people will hold demonstrations against Elon Musk at hundreds of Tesla outlets worldwide. Rather than remaining on the defensive as the fascists attack, this is a way to open up a new front of struggle and set the terms of the conflict, forcing them to be reactive. crimethinc.com/busdriver

No. Americans' economic sentiment seems to be mainly driven by partisan ideology with only the loosest connection to economic realities. And it's sentiment, more than economic realities, that relates to political behavior. I hate it.

Rafe Meager (they/them)@economeager.bsky.social

does any of you believe that the negative consumer sentiment of the last say 2 years reflected something real that just "isn't captured" by the stats? if so, how do you square that with the fact that it's so polarised across party lines and is now well up among republicans?

One tariff-related idea that I've been trying out lately (this chapter www.researchgate.net/publication/..., this podcast thecurioustask.podbean.com/e/ep-244-jac... ) is that, far from being marked by liberal consensus, American political thought/ development lacked liberalism until a late date. 1/
