I hated serial killers until I got that first rush of my hands squeezing tighter and tighter around a helpless delicate neck

Time to get into some seeker specifics for our 30 May expedition, which means it's time for fan fave @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social to return with tales from the front. 🧵⬇️

OOOOOH today I fucked around and compiled / formatted another short story micro-collection. Coming soon.

The issue with many "cozy" games is they're so vibes-focused, they lose sight of the CONTENT of the media they're emulating. Yes, "The Wind in the Willows" involves sitting around drinking tea, but it also includes such heartwarming episodes as "Mr. Toad steals a car" and "Rat and Mole meet God".

Oh yeah definitely the one thing sci fi and fantasy has been missing is the male gaze

Due to it being sunny and warm today, I don't think I shall. Thanks for your understanding.

"You are special, in all this emptiness. This is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we call the universe. You have this oasis, this beautiful place that we get to exist together.” Victor Glover, Pilot of Artemis II

The UK must immediately and unequivocally suspend support for the US military. The Government have tried to appease him, then they tried to say they're standing up to him. Words aren't enough - it's time for action.

You wrote a novel using AI? Cool. It's like that time I ran a marathon using a Ford Focus.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE SOMETHING IN HELLEBORE, life goals achieved 🌱

Oh, you don't include anything political in your writing? First of all, yes, you do. That's it. Yes, you do. Art is a political statement. Conscious or unconscious, yes, you do.

Final call! Still time to get involved in tonight's WRITING HISTORICAL HORROR course with Ally Wiles @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social - we kick off online at 6:30pm UK time! www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/writing-hi... #horror #course #courses #writing #writers #writingcourse #writingcourses

Friends, she's off to Derby again to get her Black Phillip on 🐐

The subtly receding agency of a pregnant newly-wed woman. The troubling origins of an otherwise pristine new apartment block. Deceptively simply structure. Incisive social critique. @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social’s ‘Billy Blue’ in @nightmare-magazine.com is creepy, poignant and fresh. #horror #sff

If you are a fan of Horror novels I implore you to read these two books by Ally Wilkes. Maybe I'm just behind on the game but I was unfamiliar with yours @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social You are the best horror author working today and I absolutely can't wait to read whatever you release next🖤

Counting down the days now - join acclaimed author and workshopper Ally Wilkes @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social for the latest online run of WRITING HISTORICAL HORROR, starting Wednesday!

Next week!!! If you missed the last course, here's your chance. And all sessions are filmed so you can catch up at your leisure!

Time for a belated festival launch for @dancoxon.bsky.social’s Unquiet Guests anthology, alongside contributors @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social, @willmac23.bsky.social & Alison Moore. Does a haunted house story actually have to be a *house*? Or can any building have an unquiet guest?

Ally Wilkes has the goss on writing and selling short stories in this modern age (i.e. don’t try to ape the classics)… @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social

Who wants a ghost story these days? These people totally have the answer… @dancarpenter.bsky.social @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social @willmclean21.bsky.social

this is why the whole “oh, suffering creates great art” thing is bullshit you know what’s conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table you know what isn’t? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from

I'm rarely on BSky these days as... well... it's all felt a little too much to handle. Response times will be v v delayed, or you can catch up with me over on Instagram (av_wilkes). Be safe. 🖤

Hey BSky, I'm looking for your BOOK RECS on true crime fiction: novels or novellas that read like a true crime non-fiction or a podcast. Think Six Stories by @mattjwesolowski.bsky.social, True Crime Story by Joseph Knox, or Penance by Eliza Clark.

Just a reminder that I block anyone who uses generative AI. Nothing personal. You're just an ass.
