AOC: We have a future to fight for, and we're either going to do that together or you're going to be left behind. It's not about Progressive. It's not moderate, it's not liberal. This is about do you understand the assignment of fighting fascism right now? And the assignment is you come together…

The key to this is semantic engineering. Nobody has yet defined 6Gen, any more than there is a coherent definition of Gen 1-3, so whatever horror has come out of Frank's requirements sausage machine can be labelled 6Gen. But LockMart won't like that one bit, because it will make their ATM sound old.

Not the point of this thread, but “do you think Trump’s win marks the defeat of identity politics” is SUCH a tell. His win is an absolute VICTORY for identity politics. If we accept that “angry white evangelical grievance” is an identity. Which is ABSOLUTELY is. Thru and thru.

Butler’s response is *exactly* correct. To accept the premise that ‘woke’ is something outside of a right wing moral panic is to be a dupe.

Very worth a read (the link seems to be paywall-free). I don't think this is a new problem. It's a newly identified problem.

The Navy's Project Odin's Eye is evaluating the cumulative neurological impact of a fighter pilot's career exposure to high-g forces, @davephilipps.bsky.social reports for the @nytimes.com. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/08/u....

There's fiddling expenses, and there's this. Plus one of the greatest well-duh lines I have ever seen in journalism.

The Washington Post reports that Michael Anton and Sebastian Gorka had a falling out over who should receive credit for writing Trump's speeches. This is incorrect. In this thread, I will tell you the real reason why Anton dislikes Gorka. 🧵

BREAKING: A study jointly conducted by RAND, DARPA and the CIA shows that women are safer in combat than they are in an elevator with a male GQPutinParty legislator or nominee.

🪖Women in the military will NOT be safe with Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense🚩

Lots of scope to replace expensive kit from stuffy old defense companies with billions of dollars of contracts to, say, Anduril. Major investor, Musk's buddy and Vance's sponsor, Peter Thiel; founder, Palmer Luckey, who by one of those weird coincidences is Matt Gaetz's brother-in-law.

Judd Legum@juddlegum.bsky.social

If Elon Musk is serious about "government efficiency," there is only one place to start: THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE About half of the federal discretionary budget — the spending that Congress approves each year — is spent on defense And the DoD just failed its audit FOR THE SEVENTH YEAR IN A ROW

This does raise a point: if you want to deport 20 million people and one per cent of them say "bleep that noise" and take advantage of the GOP ammosexuals' defeat of all gun control, you have 200,000 armed resisters vs. ICE's deputized Meal Team Sixers. I'm sure they've thought about that.

Laurence H. Tribe@tribelaw.bsky.social

“The Trump team believes that such camps” — I can’t help thinking “concentration camps” — “could enable the government to accelerate deportations of undocumented people who fight their expulsion from the country.” One euphemism after another, Orwell-style. Ghastly. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/18/u...

The T campaign minging about how this is a plot to "derail" the campaign when the allegations were public knowledge and the GOP House started the investigation... Derail? You knew he had a bent axle and no brakes but you hitched him to your own train, idiots.

Veni, Vidi, Vichy The GOP has blitzkrieged its way to Washington and Le Grand Orange is looking more like Marshal Pétain each day. The left may cry “Vive la #résistance” but the right is singing “Thank heaven for little girls.” by Maureen Dowd

Question: And how did he how did he pay them? Leopard: Those were primarily through Venmo and PayPal payments. There was one payment through his adopted son through his PayPal.

Grunts - I'm voting for Trump who didn't start pointless wars! Trump - You are assigned to house-to-house searches and raids, security duty on detainee bus convoys, stringing wire, digging latrines, and guarding camps. God Bless America, loser.

Fred Wellman@fpwellman.bsky.social

This should terrify every American. It doesn’t matter where you stand on immigration. Using our military as a domestic law enforcement tool at mass scale will destroy its core purpose, turn the American people against them, and damage the institution for decades.

And a hearty Fark U to all of them. They made the bed and now we can all lie in it. Bet they found it easy to not vote for a woman, married to a Jew.
