The following might sound weird. But it's more evident than *ever* that code assisting tools lead me to *instant* debt. Yeah, I know, I'm doing it wrong. Hold on. When I fix their mess, I realize like these *products* are *designed* to behave like this. It's very subtle and *very* dangerous.

#microsoft before this layoff, microsoft had 1k *more* employees than in 2022; a surplus of *10k* than pre-2020s. they're still fixing the crazy COVID hiring spree, while periodically showing investors: "we're cutting costs we're going so make *so much* money, zomg". that's it. no need to panic.

also, laying off thousands of people at once like this "drugs" the labor market, in favour of big tech ofc, where there's a major human capital dependency. ... just like LLM coding, the goal is, and always will be: controlling the means of production of the millennia. see: bsky.app/profile/veni...

what makes claudish different from human text? we're getting real psycholinguistic research! idea is that models are optimizing for information density rather than human understanding. consequences flow from that. i think i buy it. arxiv.org/abs/2610.29162

Like, all around me, slowly but steadly, I can see friends, colleagues, CTOs (et. al.) being more and more dependent on... them. I've even read the following recently: >what LLMs do you guys use to edit your spreadsheets? ????? like, try this?

Again, this does *not* mean that LLMs and the such don't have their place in our industry. This is *way* bigger than a simple "tech debate", our choices, or "which side of the argument" will emerge victorious. To me it just feels like... resistance.

See how I do *not* feel threatened, job-wise? Hell, since 2022, income has doubled. Investments are good. For now (:D). Here, instead, I am saying: we're being *predated* by trillion dollar companies. They want the means of production of the millennia: creative and critical thinking.

That is exactly why these products, *since day *zero*, came after scientists and creatives, rather than focusing on eliminating repetitive, mechanical, and physical work. That is why it feels these products are more likely designed like an addicting drug, just like Zucc did with social networks.

Obviously I recognize LLMs have their place. These *products* are.. way more than that. They are designed to come after *our* emergent abilities, so we lean towards *their* artificial ones, so we can *trust* them, and - most importantly - so we can throw away our problem solving *confidence*.

Think: does it feel like these tools offer just *selfless help*, or are they maybe, *just maybe*, operating an *hostile takeover*? A manipulative, subtle, silent, and $1T marketed takeover? Notice how I am not referring to LLMs in general. I'm speaking about these *products* specifically.

All this would explain why most folks in the industry have this "soul sucking" feeling. And yeah, I know, I know. Let me get my tinfoil hat, sure. But it's been years now, and damn, it's so obvious to me. I can't possibly be the only one forming this thought.

the timing of this post, just a couple of days before several fragmented but terrifying CVEs are being released in other ecosystems, is borderline comical zach made an important point here, and I hope this is now even more crystal clear to everyone

@peterullrich.com recently ran a huge security scan on all of #AshFramework repositories. He found a lot, we fixed them all, and I wrote a bit about it here: ash-hq.org/blog/concent...

Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies. At #AshConf 2026, Alex Slade raised a lot of interesting questions around how we deal with agentic interactions with our systems. He asks questions that seem simple, and slowly evolve in complexity. It may have inspired me to build some new things for #AshFramework ๐Ÿ˜‰ www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6Dq...

Elena Rossini โ‚@elenarossini.com

#WSocialโ€™s advice here is TERRIBLE - deleting your account wonโ€™t change a thing. Just now I found the record of a minor (15yo) who was verified by #WIdentity. His account status is now โ€œtaken downโ€ but his full name, nationality and approx. date of birth are still visible on W's verification list!

The difference is that one wanted to share the knowledge with others, while the other one wanted to profit off that knowledge. If LLM companies would face a proportional government response to what Aaron faced, then that would be a different topic. Instead they were invited for dinner with POTUS
