My husband got into a car accident yesterday, and I’m eternally thankful he didn’t get hurt. A truck backed up into the driver’s side. It was a huge scare, as it was so bad crash that our car got totaled. Screw the car, I didn’t lose my loved one. That said, consulting gigs are now needed.

I think this is a really good example of the problem with the word "artist", and where the creativity vs artistry/vision vs craftsmanship lens can be useful people who agree with the sentiment here (myself included) heavily value craftsmanship - skipping over the craft defeats the purpose but,

Make not opposing genocide hurt more than Israel works to make opposing genocide hurt. Make it hurt politicians' odds. Make it hurt artists' sales. Make it hurt medias' reputation. Make it hate platforms' revenues. Make it career-endingly devastating to stand there and "both sides" mass murder.

A couple years ago I did a backpacking trip on Padjelantaleden in northern Sweden. If you ever get a chance to see the Swedish mountains take it. They’re magical

Please blow up the public comment (included below): BREAKING NEWS (7/15) — The administration wants to destroy Chaco Canyon without consulting Tribal Nations. It’s an irreplaceable historic & cultural site with 4,700 archeological sites that could be lost to the bulldozers of oil & gas development

<insert swearing> AI is bad, but search is so bad I'm forced to use it, but it's so useless. Asking the same question on different days gives completely different answers. "Yes this is recommended, here's why it's great", "No this isn't recommended, here's why it's bad and you're an idiot" jfc

Any game dev folks who can tell me if it's bad practice to use degenerate triangles to temporarily hide a few dynamic triangles? Godot doesn't allow specifying a vertex buffer size for a dynamic mesh and only relies on the array size, so you're forced to reallocate the array to reduce vertex count.

I'd rather just fill out the rest of the vertex buffer with degenerate triangles so they don't show up to avoid resizing the buffer, which would also have to grow again eventually.

Well, I've been affected by the Bungie layoffs, and I guess I'm now looking for work. I'm a senior narrative designer on Destiny 2. I'm going to thread a little list of stuff I've done on the game; normally I go out of my way to avoid attention, but today I'd appreciate reposts.

Unlike other industries, the gaming industry is unable to take a stand against the ethnic cleansing in Palestine. Big companies dont want the risk, individuals dont know what to do. If you believe in this medium & want to help. This is a game about Palestine needs your help Launchgood.com/1948

Rasheed is literally risking his life for this game. Israelis could decide to capture, torture, or murder him at any point for daring to share the truth of the Nakba or Palestinian culture. He truly believes in games and their power to tell these stories. Please help his courage not be in vain.

I’m NOT excited and I’m NOT thrilled. I’m honestly scared to share this, but I’m not a coward. I have to show you what you helped us create. None of this would have been possible without your help, and we can’t finish it without your support www.launchgood.com/1948 youtu.be/D4qh1FAPEUo

Even if you follow me, you likely can't see my last repost: a Palestinian gamedev working on the lovely Dreams on a Pillow launched a promised follow-up crowdfunding campaign. But @moderation.bsky.app labeled him spam for daring to be Palestinian, so you can't see reposts, repost him, or tag him.

And this beautiful game on grief is out now! If you want to support Arab-made work about the Arab world, history, arts, and culture -especially in a time of destruction and erasure towards our people- I cannot recommend this game more. store.steampowered.com/app/3451680/...

I've wished for Arab-made games about Arab mythology for so long, and despite assisting on the project I still can't believe there's one swinging for the fences this hard. House of Hikmah is something very needed in a time where the world would rather erase us. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZTu...

It's almost time for Ramadan, as Muslims tonight peered to the crescent moon to see if the month of Ramadan starts tonight or the day after. As with every year, I'm starting this thread so that people can ask questions, and learn about Ramadan from one person's perspective of it.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue
