What is War Movie Theatre about? How do we pick the films? The idea was first to talk about the films we watched growing up, and how they shaped our understanding of the world. But we've gone wider...

The first Red Redemption Game, for a good majority, is set two years before World War I and has a section take place in Mexico. It cribs a lot from Peckinpah.

Lefty Twaddle was of course the foley artist on The Wild Bunch, famous for his ability to recreate the sound of horses hooves using only his left hand, which was badly disfigured in the battle for Iwo Jima

Peckinpah was a US Marine who was sent to China in 1945 while everyone else was fighting the good fight, Japanese soldiers were recruited to fight alongside them

I rather think that if you have to go as far as telling your cast not to discuss Vietnam, you probably are making a Vietnam movie. When making Cannonball Run that year, I doubt anyone in that cast was told not to discuss Vietnam.

As safety professionals, very sold on the @duncanweldon.bsky.social idea that the Empire's downfall is due to their poor approach to health and safety (evidenced by a chronic lack of fall protection and Darth Vader's poor reception of bad news chilling safety reporting). 🤣 #starwars #safetyculture

this is what I love about @warmovietheatre.com always learn something... I am of the generation that saw Star Wars when it came out and loved it cos it's a “pew pew laser blast film”! I never knew it's “definitely not about the Vietnam War” & now I've got an excuse to watch it again 😆 thanks guys!
