"This remake is inviting new players into this world" is so condescending. Ohh wittle new players oooh you simply cannot handle playing games from 20 years ago...you're too wittle and dumb with your wittle brain

i'm going to be honest, i don't think all those posts where things start out being about one subject and end up being about Winston from Overwatch are that funny. I think they would be better if they were about a young witch trying to solve the disappearance of her neighbour's cat in a small villag

the idea that you're allowed to play a game entirely determined by hitboxes, frame data, move properties, etc. and experience the interplay of those with your senses, but you are NOT allowed to document them with numbers and images, is fucking crazy and stupid. get the fuck outta here Capcom

After quick browse of the conversation around arcade games, I can see a lot of interesting points around game design and the culture around arcades in the 90s. However so much of the commentary is only a hair's breadth away from:

Painful review of the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle on Steam that really highlights how destructive the continue system was to people's perception of arcade games. The beat 'em ups mentioned play wildly different from one another if you're actually trying to survive on 1 credit.

MYTH: Every mixup is a 50/50 FACT: All is written. You were never meant to block that low. The very concept of a mixup is the post-hoc invention of a mind in hitstun. The trajectory of particles cannot be changed

Just got all my boys together to take on the wandering ronin who came to town. There’s like 15 of us and only one of him so pretty much the only thing that would give me any pause is if he was master of the devastating and lightning-fast iaidō style. But that’s not likely. The thing about FMA is it's undeniably liberal slop, but it's elevated slightly above other libslop because the brown, middle eastern coded genocide victim is actually allowed to kill George W. Netanhitler, which I feel like most modern Libslop would be too chickenshit to do today.

The question "Is this condition overdiagnosed" is actually asking "Have we found an exceptional case of a medical issue where healthcare is too easy to get?" and the answer to that is always no. There has never, at any point, been a situation where it was too easy to get healthcare.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

to clarify i think this is kind of pathetic. there's people on here who are like 32 doing boomer facebook posting. already done living in the present or thinking of themselves as part of culture. you can turn around and close your eyes but the future's still coming from the other direction

so much of this website is "we drank from the hose and walked both ways to school barefoot" posting from millennials but about like, coding a web page in html on a desktop computer

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

Watching the new season of Shark Tank and they managed to immediately become a parody of itself by having one of the pitches be Ball 2, the sequel to Ball, powered by AI. To really seal the deal, the ball 2's battery is not rechargeable or designed to be replaced.

Breath of the Wild is the worst video game on Earth and its ramifications are deleterious to the entire video game market.

the "you can't avoid AI, it's in all software now" argument might be true for infrastructure, where we have limited agency over the platforms and systems that make up our society, but is hilariously untrue for video games, a completely optional and easily ignored part of all of our lives

The answer to every "how is that even going to WORK?" dunk on some horribly bigoted new policy designed to marginalize people is "violently and with no regard for what you perceive to be an insurmountable logical flaw here"

the thing about getting blown up 0-5 on stream vs a slayer is that nothing else can hurt you at that point. i closed xrd and immediately texted a girl i wanted to ask out because the outcome couldn't be THAT bad comparatively. and it wasn't! (she said no)

Experimental post: The Duality of Whacka In the Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Whacka can finally be fought, and has a suspiciously specific 108 HP. The game both offers a ridiculously simplistic explanation for this as well as a complex one steeped in Dharmic symbolism.
