Great and depressing read. Internet is becoming an ouroboros/human centipede crossover, shitting out slop and immediately feeding it back to itself.

It is so mentally corrosive to try to ascertain, every day, whether the images I am seeing or the texts I am getting or the phone calls I am receiving are real - produced by a human who is trying to communicate something with me, even indirectly. It makes me feel insane and paranoid all the time

Obviously having your game erroneously banned for daring to suggest that adults sometimes have sex is an absolute nightmare. Particularly the week before launch! But...I have to admit that playing a vampire in a game deemed "too sexy for Steam" might be the coolest I've ever been.

Basically this is the reason I don't use AI in my core work, because like we can't remember phone numbers now our mobiles do it, you lose a skill you don't use. And unlike outsourcing phone-number-remembering, these skills matter.

The Quiet Year was my introduction to GM-less role-playing and it remains the best game in that category.

I've been playing (& teaching!) "The Quiet Year" for years and years now and it remains my #1 recommendation for folks who want to explore playful co-creation with others. If you somehow don't have it already - now's a good time!
