You can't clean up plastic once it's in the ocean You can't suck up fossil carbon once it's in the atmosphere You can't (quickly) regrow a forest once you've destroyed it Destruction needs to be addressed at source. It makes no sense to just damage everything and try to fix it afterwards

therevelator.orgWhy The Ocean Cleanup Hasn’t Solved the Plastic Pollution Crisis • The RevelatorGlobal problems are rarely solved by one person or invention. The Ocean Cleanup didn’t work, for the reasons experts said it wouldn’t. What can we learn from this?

Sometimes it's good to read that something is heading in the right direction. Such and opportunity here, plug the leaks, but then, you know maybe.... '#juststopoil' and there wouldn't be any methane leaks from fossil fuel production in the first place! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Just Stop Oil made a comeback this afternoon, blocking the road outside Parliament for several hours. JSO are acting on the science that shows new oil and gas means more fires, more floods and more deaths.... Will the UK government do the same? #StopRosebank #JustStopOil

It's now extremely hard for Irish people to conceive what a wild tree even looks like, with mostly only domesticated, tamed versions remaining. This rainforest holly gives an idea. Rewilding is how we allow not only wild trees back, but the entire ecosystems of which they're meant to be a part.

This is REALLY important. “Over 50% of Americans say climate change is a serious threat; only 10% think their compatriots feel the same That perception gap on the issue is among the highest in the world, per a new Gallup poll.” They want you to think you’re alone. You’re not. #ClimateCrisis

National Emergency Briefing@nebriefing.bsky.social

100,000 people now signed the petition for the government to stage a televised emergency briefing on the climate & nature crisis, introduced by the PM and delivered by independent experts. The debate should be prioritised for when Parliament reconvenes on 1st Sept. It's #TimeToStepUp

If @andyburnham.bsky.social were Prime Minister during the Blitz: "There is an urgent problem of bombs falling on London. They appear to be coming out of the sky. We convened a COBRA meeting to discuss it. The root causes of this problem are not something I am prepared to discuss." #ClimateEmergency

So many people see 'write to you MP' and don't do it. It really does matter. MP's massively underestimate public concern around climate/nature issues - they won't know how much you care unless you tell them. Do it now... info on how to do it here. www.writetothem.com

🚨 Nature loss isn't just an environmental crisis: it's a national security issue. On 3 Sept, MPs will debate UK intelligence experts' warning on the threat of ecosystem collapse. Write to your MP and urge them to speak at the debate. @zero-hour.bsky.social www.zerohour.uk/nsa-debate #naturecrisis

A temperature above 37°C has only been recorded on nine days in the UK since records began – three of those occasions have now been in 2026, including today. Reading University has recorded its warmest August day on record (since 1908), and second warmest day overall.

The Daily Telegraph has raced through all five stages of climate denial this week. But this is, perhaps, the most ridiculous column so far: "Without minimising the severe downsides…especially on some poorer nations, many in Britain would enjoy the kind of warmer climate predicted by modellers..."

The Prime Minister, @andyburnham.bsky.social, has spoken about being honest about the challenges we face. So, as we welcome our new Prime Minister and cabinet, let's start there: Nature is disappearing. The climate crisis is accelerating. The UK cannot thrive while both continue unchecked.

This is such a clear explanation of that sick feeling you get listening to Radio 4 'journalism'...
