I keep telling this to students. If you really want to do SAE research, just find a great classic paper on topic modeling and reimplement it using SAEs. I don’t think anyone would really notice.

to safely dispose of these hats, eat them. natural fibers — such as cotton, wool, silk, and linen — breakdown in the digestive track. synthetics do not. thus, if you eat your hat, the synthetics will pass through the other side. smush through the poop to find the synthetic fibers and recycle them.

Excited to announce here at the @parispeaceforum.bsky.social that, after months of joint technical work together, OpenAI will open source through ROOST one of its main internal models that handles detection and moderation. This will allow anyone or any company to use, test, and study the model.

Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin ✨ figured out what stars are made of ✨ when she was just 25. 🔭🧪 Her PhD thesis basically established the Harvard astro department — at a time when Harvard didn't officially allow woman students. I wrote this little profile to mark the 100th anniversary of her thesis:

sciencenews.orgHow a Harvard maverick forever changed our concept of the starsAt just 25, Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin applied quantum physics to a treasure trove of astronomical observations to show that stars are mostly hydrogen and helium.

I always thought that habitual offender laws and three strikes laws emerged in the 1990s as part of the tough-on-crime era. But then I was looking through old state codes and I saw a three strikes law from 1923. Then I found dozens from around this time, and wondered (naively) what was going on.
