happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi. He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael. At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk. Wael died on Friday at age 30. ICE caused his death. They didn’t get to say goodbye.

We must continue the work to abolish ICE. But right now, Congress can stop ICE’s violent reign of terror. Tell them to do it today: (202) 224-3121

Lights coming on in Sussex Street: a favourite place in Cambridge, mixed media work (sold at a Cambridge Drawing Society exhibition). Buildings delightfully designed by architect E.R.Barrow in the 1920s and '30s. Green pantiles particularly effective. #art #mixedmedia #cambridge

Another Cambridge street painting. I think these old views of people dressed up and thronging the streets in celebration of their exams being over are a bit of an antidote to what's going on now (original sold a long time ago). Direct watercolour no predrawing. #art #watercolour #mayweek

After buying it for $18.8 billion, Walgreens' new private equity owner has eliminated paid holidays for all hourly workers on Christmas and New Year's. Last year, Walgreens had a CEO-to-Worker pay gap of 410 to 1. Corporate greed that would make even Scrooge blush.

“There’s never been a moment when someone’s like ‘oh, I didn’t want to let you know I really want universal child care.’ … When you say ‘I’m a moderate,’ or ‘I’m a centrist’ I immediately know you’re right-wing, and I also think you’re a coward.”

According to a new study, members of Congressional leadership perform 47% better in stock market trades than their rank-and-file peers, thanks to access to nonpublic information. Today would be a great day to ban ALL elected officials from trading stock, don't you think?

Putin's war in Ukraine shows where authoritarianism can lead: ~1.4 million casualties. An entire generation sacrificed for one man's imperialist delusions. We must not let any president drag us into war without congressional approval.

I was just thinking about contributing to the "charity" Feeding America. Until I discovered that the salary for its CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, was approximately $949,866 in 2024, with her total compensation being $1,113,502. Apparently, feeding America isn't her top priority.

An important part of the job for any WH Press Secretary is to clean up remarks made by the president or offer explanation/context or apology when warranted. But Leavitt never does that. She always crafts a response that makes it even worse by adding her own toxic twist.

This will be very painful to hear but all the grifters who enabled Trump, supported him, and elevated him for sake of personal gain will fail up. Nothing will happen to any of them. It's just how the town works, folks. They all fail up down here. They all protect each other and their own.

Since January, Trump's Treasury has quietly gutted enforcement of the corporate alternative minimum tax — a huge boon for big business and wealthy investors. Meanwhile, he's led an all-out assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that help the poor. Reverse Robin Hood.
