I'm pretty sure instead of this approach the "great deal maker" could have come up with something better. Perhaps incentives for Americans to open new businesses in strategic sectors. Nah. This approach is for one thing only, more taxes. Possibly to crash markets as well. Just my amateur POV.

Rich enough that you can have a big nest egg in real estate assets and the stock market and watch all that loose over half their value and still be unbelievably rich. 99% of Americans don’t have significant savings due to decades of stagnant wages and recessions w every Rep presidency.

It'll work to devalue assets so the investor class can gobble them up. If they're lucky, they'll fuck things so bad the fed will need to start handing out free money again and they can use that free money to buy out the entire market and we'll all be swallowed by the private equity black hole.

You can buy all the “cheap” stocks you want, but if the world is boycotting your goods and services, and your regular citizens have shrinking incomes, prosperity will be a historical term. There will be little economic growth to fuel any profits. It’s pretty simple.

I totally agree, but this is a group who doesn't. They think they're solely responsible for the prosperity of the country and therefore should be entitled to all of it, not realizing if there is no consumer demand there is nothing for them to own.

Let's see who will blame Biden first, when it comes to the tariffs. Also, 401k's and jobs are going to be lost. Prices will be sky high. Majority of Americans are going to feel real economic pain. Instead, all you had to do was tax the rich/corporations in order to reduce the debt.

It'll take time for supply chains to switch over. There'll be less of a market for our goods going out, while Uncle Sam adds this 'tax' for goods coming in. Business will sell less product overseas, hurting profits, and then employment. Workers will make less and pay more. This is gonna get bad.
