If the best case Democrats can make to voters against a lawless authoritarian regime that is dismantling our institutions at home and selling out our allies abroad is "but egg prices" then we're totally cooked as a society anyway.

Trump’s voters didn’t care about eggs and still don’t. They knew he wanted to upend the federal government. They knew he would upend Trans rights and DEI. They knew about Project 2025. They want this. Dems are screaming and saying this is bad but the GOP is plowing through. Dems are in distress.

We need to find Real Republicans. Old-School, Business-Friendly, Small-Government, Rule-Of-Law, Separation-Of-Powers-Is-A-Real Thing Republicans. I knew some, once… But that was before the MAGA Virus infected them all, and we had the Zombie Republican Apocalypse. Oh, the Good Old Days…

I wish! Considering they have appointed the worst of the worst to cabinet positions, I cannot imagine them authorizing the militia to execute our laws. Most elected Republicans are either corrupt or they are cowards.

We’re gonna have to march at some point. I remember marching during the Freddie Gray protests and seeing snipers on top of buildings around city hall. We all know what he wanted to do to protesters then. We’re headed back to the 60’s where marching may well have cost you your life and freedom.

Please take note: Marching, peaceful protest Yes... but no violence and be very aware of violent infiltrators They want this to impose martial law, possibly suspend elections **Temper rage with perception and wisdom**

What nonsense. You are just doing the same thing you did during the election and ignore all the powerful messages Democrats said to instead harp on some throw-away thing they said that one time.

I mean, imagine how dumb the average person is, then realize that half the people are dumber than that. Those dumbasses are who decides ~every election, too. Dems need to fight harder for the rule of law, but "but eggs!" is what's gonna win the midterms.

other than protest, go on tv, yell at representatives in congress, and get lawyers filing to block them, file for impeachment. what choices do they have ? they aren't going to physically attack them. out of hand due to lack of justice trump should have been out after first impeachment.

When I was in high school I participated in an "egg throw" to raise money — two people stood behind a chicken wire screen and customers would pay a quarter to throw an egg at them. Nasty. Any Democrat who mentions egg prices should get a day in the egg cage.

Sadly enough, they don't care about the eggs. They care about Trump telling them about the eggs. Because Trump also tells them the eggs are the fault of the people they've also been very concerned about for a long time, not their republican family.

I want a Democratic Party that is so out for blood that Trump & MAGA will have no choice but to try to attempt a coup to hold on to power because if they don't, the streets of DC will run red w/ retribution. Give me that Democratic Party.

"it's the eggs, stupid" the price of eggs is symbolic of everything trump does. announce or tweet something not related to any facts then blow right past it when it face-plants. huh-uh. very special boy promised me cheap eggs and i want my cheap eggs. i don't want any of his fucking excuses.

Fox News truly should take a large portion of the blame for ruining this country. It is incredulous how much right-wing media has twisted people into thinking gutting federal agencies and electing an authoritarian buffoon would be good for them, especially when you look at his economic/tax plan.

I’d generally agree, but it’s one of the few issues the simpletons who voted for Trump care about. Democrats cried from the rooftops the entire election cycle about the kind of authoritarian threat Trump represents and it got them nowhere. Now it’s supposed to work?

Wait - what if people who never paid attention to politics before because it's boring suddenly discovered their voices on social media started voting? We might learn that way fewer people are into democracy than we've been led to believe.

I think they should use every argument at their disposal. "Lawless authoritarian regime" works for some; "egg prices" work for others. Use them all. We need as big a coalition against MAGA-Musk as we can get.

I just want to vomit... 'Donald Trump says he had a "lengthy and highly productive" phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which led to the pair agreeing that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine would begin "immediately".' www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c4...

bbc.co.ukTrump says negotiations on Ukraine war to begin 'immediately' after call with Putin - follow liveThe US president says he will begin by calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to inform him of the conversation.

Not snark, genuinely asking: wasn’t it pretty clear via the election results that many voters didn’t care about the threat of authoritarianism (or for that matter, general lawlessness, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, & xenophobia) because to them, inflation was the most important issue?

I don’t agree. I see them fighting in court, in interviews, and in committees. Admittedly, Schumer/Jeffries have not met the moment, but that doesn’t discount many that are stepping up. We don’t even have eggs where I live, I’m glad they are talking about it.

There is a restless populist spirit in America that voted for Trump, but isn’t wedded to Trump. That is where Dems need to put their energy. Make Trump defend his government, make him defend the corrupt oligarchs he is in bed with. Shine a light on a path forward.

Democrats impeached Trump twice, spent four years calling him a fascist, and Americans, egged on by the media--if you will--elected Trump for his supposed ability to reduce food prices. So, I hope this cri de coeur is addressed to the people and the media as the sources of your discontent.

Leader Jeffries has announced the launch of the "Rapid Response Task Force and Litigation Working Group." The task force is part of a "multifaceted struggle to protect and defend everyday Americans from the harm being inflicted by this administration."

Why are we just beating ourselves up rather than aiming all the fire forward? That's what's killing me. "Talk about the dining room table." "No not like that. Talk about this." "Okay but what about that?" Like, we're internalizing the whataboutism. Why are we doing Rs work for them?

Action is being called for when there is no clear path forward. Yet. Elon Musk needs to be arrested and deported. His five minions need to be arrest arrested . That is the most common sense actionable course . Also we need to win the election that’s happening in 60 days for the house.

Voters didn’t give a crap about saving democracy, or that Benedict Donald was a fascist or oligarchs are taking over, they’ll screw our allies before they’re not going to grasp it now. One thing they claimed they cared about was grocery cost.

What exactly should the messaging or actions be? We’ve thrown out all the doomsday messaging before the election and now after and it doesn’t seem to matter. I’m feeling like our “normal” fight tactics are worthless and we have to pivot to a different future. I hate it here.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but the "voters" who support Trump don't care - they like his "strong arm" tactics and the perception that he's screwing the damn libs, without caring that he's actually mostly screwing them. Biden/Harris warned them about all of it.

Partially true. The people are going to need to fix this. The Democrats appear to be complicit. The problem is there not a clear legal avenue that presents itself following legal precedence. There is a growing resistance. But we sure as fuck don’t have any leaders from the Democratic Party.

I'm feeling, eerily, a very similar vibe to what I felt in 2007 as the real estate market began crashing, only much, much worse and it's much, much bigger. And the same stupid forces are doing the same stupid things to uncontain it. One thing's sure: nothing's gonna be "normal" again anytime soon.

Yes, except that 9/11 was a one-day event with a never-ending cascade of follow-up events. This time the initial event is just getting underway, and where it stops nobody knows. It's just utterly nauseating. God help us all.

A Russian spy leads our intelligence services, our military leader is about to give up a sovereign ally to an enemy nation which threatens all our allies, while and a maniacal, openly Nazi foreigner is systematically breaking down our institutions. . Guess what. The feared New World Order is here.

The US people prefer "a lawless authoritarian regime that is dismantling our institutions at home and selling out our allies abroad" you can't help them. It's the people here that need to suffer for their stupidity. Let them die off.

The people who voted for Trump don’t care about an authoritarian regime. They want a white Christian male authoritarian regime. And only if it hurts their pocketbooks will they decide it might not be worth it. They don’t have want democracy if it means they aren’t in power.

this is a useless post. ironic since you are trying to post that DEMS are useless. This is not at all helpful, and seems more like what legacy/main stream media does. I expected better.

Sadly it was egg prices that helped get us to the dire situation our country is currently in. Democrats better get their act together & switch tactics in order to convince Americans of all persuasions as to what trouble they’re in because just enough of them were duped into voting for the Dictator.

With Republicans, it goes without saying. But with Democrats, they are the only opposition and so many of them are shamefully passive when they need to be up and fighting. Until they prove otherwise, they are done as a party.

Duly noted. But to say Democrats are the only opposition is incorrect. The courts are opposing him, what good it does remains to be seen. "We the people," are opposing him with surprising numbers in the street. Pushback works. It's really all up to us.

The Republican Party is a fascist movement. Fascism = bad. Republicans = bad. Focus and SIMPLIFY the message. A majority of the electorate is working with a vocabulary and reading level at or below that of a 10-11 year old. You need to connect the dots for them.

Did you miss this or are you purposely ignoring it? Cuz right now your misinformed posts are just fracturing democrats. And not doing anything to stop the fascism youre complaining about.

What did we really have to begin with, if we could so easily and hastily be dismantled and discarded? The curtain is pulled and our target- the wealthy elites - are visible and vulnerable. Our fight is not for what was but what will be. End the 1% and cut the head off the proverbial snake.

I think it begins with loudly asserting that we put a traitor in the highest executive office of the nation. An aggressively mendacious traitor, who willfully attempted to undermine our elections, and continues his lies about our foundational process for conferring legimitacy upon government.

I don't really agree with that framing. We're seeing in real time that America cannot be bothered to understand these issues or care about them appropriately. If Joe Blow is too stupid to understand that authoritarianism will make him a peon, then tell him it'll make him poor.

The focus should be on musk and other billionaires, funding freeze and inflation. If dems were smart they would ignore trumps name instead put the focus on tesla owned multi billionaire president musk crushing the working class while reducing trump as a lame duck. Then yes they have a chance

Transphobia played a huge part as well. Just before the election the Trump campaign blanketed TV with frankenedited interviews of Kamala Harris to convince voters she wanted to give trans prisoners free surgery.

Egg prices, inflation, endless wars, freedom of speech - turns out those were only excuses, half of the country is in a cult now. We're more or less cooked.

Everyone who replies ‘but voters cared about egg prices’ is fundamentally misunderstanding human psychology. No one gave two rats about prices - voters cared about whatever Trump told them it was important to care about. If we’re going to engage at every turn as if this was rational, we’re toast.

We’re cooked… we need Pritzker or another player with intelligence and smart mouth! We need to get rid of these unorganized bifocal-wearing boomers. Schumer is the worst! Keep him off TV! He’s repulsive. 🤮- I can’t believe that I actually used that term, BOOMER, but it’s so fitting right now.

Normally your posts are spot on, but there's nothing wrong w scolding them about "egg prices"- similar to "but her emails." The right cried about something relatively unimportant compared to the damage being done to this country that we all warned would happen. "Egg prices" = their stupidity.

It’s not the time to be pivoting from the poorly messaged 2024 campaign. Democrats need to continue to blast the airwaves about democracy before worrying about the economic effects of Republican policy. Additionally, they need to really hone in on the Republican Party as a whole, not only Trump.

The US might be but you are insisting on dragging the whole world down with you. So, you’re just going to have to stand back up and get your collective shit together and fix the mess you made like the grown ups you say you all want to be

In part this timidity is the result of the just horrendous brand position of the Left, which is mostly their fault. As a result members of Congress run screaming, even in an emergency, from anything that sounds like what MoveOn is saying.

Congress: Speak simply. Get out of the bi-coastal bubble and come to the kitchen table. You must tell people what is wrong and how to fix it. No one out here cares about "oligarchs" and "IT" jargon. Food, housing, health costs, social security, wages, school, jobs. Daily life builds democracy.

We ARE totally cooked as a society and have been for a long time. The two-party system is dominated by the rich. You have a fascist theocratic party. And you have a centrist party who won't put up any meaningful resistance and then pats itself on the back for fighting the good fight when it loses.

I have seen a lot of cases made by various Dems... But, I'm not a social media only matters type I read news sites and aggregates also + You heard of Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell... among others for viewers...they have shown much more than egg pricing
