No.. they can’t relinquish the floor. They can get short breaks while others ask them questions etc. but can’t physically leave. I did read Thurmond was allowed to have a bathroom break (57 years ago).. Booker couldn’t.

I'm looking for 2 years. Hoping the opposition "somehow" overcomes citizens united + elmo to take over the house of representatives and drag this WH admin back into the swamp where they belong.

There's no rule. They may change debate rules in reaction to a trend of marathons, but they can't stop one that's started. Any rule change also takes time and arguments. It's unlikely.

No, but I think another Democratic Senator could capture the floor in a day or two. I think a rotation of Democratic Senators could eat many many days of floor time between them. They can't stop the GOP from doing the most harm, but they can limit the amount of floor time available for that harm

I think with 47 Senators, Dems can hold the Senate at bay for a good week and call the world's attention and embarrass this Administration. It inspires others and gives people the will to fight!!

I wish he didn’t have to be the only one alone performing this biological feat as the only one standing & not yielding the floor to filibuster. Why can’t all Sen take a rotation of turns of 2 hours each to keep the filibuster going 48 hours? The questions, & conversations have been remarkable

Yes, if every Dem Senator, probably minus Fetterman, took up the baton after Booker is done & then started marathon speaking for as long as each can! Plug the Senate for days & then restart!! Shut down the Senate!!

Generally, I agree, but if they’re too old to do it for many hours but have their hearts in the right place, they can do it for as long as they are able, & hand off to someone else, rejoining the queue after they’ve rested. Let’s not count any willing Dem out.

Yes, as long as he goes WWE, tag team style. He could tap Tammy Duckworth to continue for another 24. And maybe Duckworth taps Bernie who goes to Tim Kaine or Mark Kelly and then Booker taps back in. Round and round we go.

Every single Democratic Senator should emulate Senator Booker and do the exact same thing. Any Senator that doesn’t should lose the support of the party and support of every single registered Democrat.
