I’ll go further in saying that companies that purchase farmer products figured out w/data-if they don’t have to compete they pay less in a market so they pulled out of competitive markets & many have consolidated so that farmers often are dealing with a monopsony (or near) for a particular product.

Some farmers are wealthy because the land value of their farms has grown significantly, not because they’re some coddled class. Farming is tough & way more expensive than it used to be. Picking on farmers isn’t productive-farmer wealth pales in comparison to those who wield threat wealth.
