Trump: "I haven't been watching it too much, the World Series. I'm disappointed they didn't put Pete Rose in. And with all the gambling you see now -- I mean, gimme a break."

Pete Rose? PETE ROSE!? The guy who was banned from baseball for decades after gambling on baseball teams while he was a team manager? That guy? The same guy who died about a year ago?

The thing is, this is classic dementia. He's talking about baseball & about gambling, so his mind brings up Pete Rose, who was a ballplayer and who gambled, and he can't articulate what he means (if, indeed, he means the Hall of Fame). And baseball isn't about him, so of course he's not interested.

So it’s ok for pastey white people to gamble on sports. But his DOJ is going after black people who were allegedly involved in gambling. No racism from this administration

And he's challenging AOC and Crockett to a IQ test? He wants to talk about Pete Rose and sports gambling in the same sentence? Hooo boy. I move we bring Shoeless Joe back.

How out of it do you have to be to mention a player who is both dead and has not been playing baseball for 40 years. What does any of that have to do with the teams in the World Series now? PopPop needs to be in a home. He doesn't know what year it is.

It's also a sign of dementia that whenever one subject comes out he could only go to one particular issue but that's what this is. A sign of dementia. Not that he thought Pete Rose was alive and should be put in the World series game last night, but that he should be put in the Hall of Fame.

For people wondering wtf he is talking about: He is referring to Rose becoming eligible for the Hall of Fame this year. Rose died in 2024, and was barred from the Hall for gambling on his own games, and that was overturned posthumously. So this is rambling and incoherent, but not nonsense.

Yea. Rose was only a couple years older than Trump, so was active in the 70's and 80's -the only time period Trump's addled brain latches on to as significant. Like his obsession with business and foreign policy platforms that are weird 80's reactionary items, so too Pete Rose.

This is... actually pretty coherent for Trump. If you assume he is saying they should have put Rose in the Hall of Fame (which I think is what he meant here), his comment about gambling makes sense tied to that. It works much better to go after his absurd political claims anyway.

Here’s a question I dare someone to put to this moron: “With all this talk on the global stage about deoxyribonucleic acid, why do you think it’s important for America to disarm the Houthis?” His response would be epic.

Sports are the only subjects that reporters should ask him about, as it always reveals how clueless he is. Ignoring his evident mix up of the World Series vs. the Hall of Fame, he thinks that the Commissioner of Baseball decides who gets into the Hall of Fame?

Somebody should ask him why they would put Pete Rose in the World Series. Or we need to see the state-run media start directly quoting Trump instead of sane-washing him.

That is not what he said, however, and we need to stop covering him as if he said something he didn't say. The proper way to cover Trump, if he's going to be unclear, is to be as uncharitable in our interpretation as possible, so that he has to explain himself, personally.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure Pete Rose is dead. And if he wasn't dead, he'd be 84 years old. I think we need to see the actual results of the Walter Reed cognitive test(s) and MRI.

That Henry Aaron fella is supposed to be good. Maybe when they allow NBA players to kick a field goal or run outside in the rain. Hey those Canadians are good ice skaters eh? Biden could never skate. In fact I’m announcing a pardon for Larry Bird. He was a great pitcher

Good God. There are so many commercials that could be made about him right now to get his condition noticed by the public. Takes money, but I would contribute to a GoFundMe page if anyone would put one up to pay for it.

He gambled on his own team. That’s a no no in any time. Everyone knows he was great a little bust of his head in a museum doesn’t make him not great. Will be the same with Bonds.

Yeah, **** Pete Rose. He gets in behind Eddie Cicotte, Joe Jackson, and Buck Weaver. It's not the betting. It's the betting about *his team*. The ones he was a player/manager and manager for. It's also about the 15 year old girl on the side. He doesn't get in. Period.
