How is this aging?

Bessent: "We've seen President Trump last week threaten what would have been the largest military campaign since World War 2 against the Iranians, and now because of that we are in talks with the Iranians. I think there's a chance we may have a deal today or tomorrow to open the strait."

This guy is handling the US Treasury like it's his Hedge Fund. Allocating monies without notifying Congress or the Senate. Backroom deals that the EU could crush. To some degree focing Japan to eat his deal to say the dollar. Unbelievable

They don't care. They don't believe a word of what they're saying when they say it. It's political theatre and nothing more. He could make the exact same stzatement tomorrow and the legalcy media would treat it as a valid story. We are so broken.

Imagineers at Disney World creating the Trump administration animatronic exhibit: "That Scott Bessent figure looks too lifelike. We need to take it back to the shop to make it more robotic."

Their short list of demands, before re-opening the Strait, is for the U.S. to end the war & withdraw all troops AND "compensate Tehran financially." Trump's usually the one holding something for ransom, especially from his pay-to-pay donors. If we weren't talking taxpayer $$$, this would be "karma."

About as well as all the other stinking piles of horse manure they spread around the country, but it doesn't matter because the press keeps pretending it's news when it's actually the same old lie filled garbage since the beginning.

Tell me if I’m wrong, but the Iranians demands to end the war means that in addition to not being as good as Obama’s agreement, we have to pay them billions? And that’s not counting the billions we’ve spent and the lives lost? Way to go Trumpy and Hegseth.

So sick of this constant psychobabble circle The strait is closed The strait is open We are talking We are going to bomb them There's a deal There's no deal Repeat at nauseam

It has the side effect of slowly burning Republican credibility to ashes. Pity we are letting people get rich on it and making everything worse. Still, it would be nice, if this time two thirds of the country remembered it all and voted against it reliably forever.

Rethuglicans blew up any credibility they had long long before this yes trump manipulation of the market should be illegal but unfortunately rethuglicans are in control and are bootlicking cultists for the pedophile felon trump now they are messing with elections and voting rights it's a travesty

Yeah, people seem confused about this. They say 'I can't understand it, Trump said America's streets will be paved with gold, and we shall all own pink unicorns, but anecdotal evidence doesn't seem to align with that statement.'.. He lied, LIED.

Unlike some of Trump's people, Bessent has trouble telling a flat lie categorically, This is classic hedging. "I think there's a chance of a deal..." There is no way to prove that there was NO chance of a deal. There is certainly no way to prove that he didn't THINK there was a chance.

Iran Issues List of Demands, Complicating Efforts to Reopen Strait The head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the United States met certain conditions. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/08/w...

The Iranian government just posted their conditions to end the war, it was delivered to tRump earlier this morning. The Iranians are raising the bet as they have a Strait and calling tRump's bluff.

I think the general practice of these types of shows (even on weekdays) is for the host to go into "while I have you here" mode and try to get a comment on some other news item whether or not the guest has any role or oversight

I'm pretty sure who appears from the White House is negotiated with the White House and the White House agenda of the moment plays a role that isn't fully discussed (if at all) in the negotiations.
