Sometimes I see something in nature and then spend the next several years waiting for the shot. Sometimes I never get it. Sometimes you see it and a week later you land it: I give you tonight's murder of crows in front of the sunset. 🪶

reminded that there's a shot in Bonfire of the Vanities of the Concorde landing at sunset that's perfectly framed with the Empire State Building. the director needed to wait months for the right 30 second window for the sun to be in the right spot and have a plane land at the right moment

There's a backstory to that shot! De Palma didn't want it because he said plane landing transitions are boring, but the second unit director disagreed and bet him $100 he could film a plane landing shot so epic De Palma would have no choice but to put it in the film and obviously, he won the bet.

I have no words that can match the exquisite coolness of this golden murder (MAYBE possible if not sleep deprived) but am curious to know where you shot this, as much as you want to share~ Assume West of the Mississippi…. Like “from my rooftop in Oakland” or “on top of Mt Tam”, she romanticized.

Eggsellent analysis…. Wish I could stand on that Pier~ To witness Murders & Waves ( & perhaps SEALS [non-military]?) Feel like I may have been there many years ago…. But back to 🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛ 🐦‍⬛ — I didn’t guess any beach bc I didn’t think crows ever hung out near/flew over the ocean. Like NON-sea birds!

Now to find someone with a $20,000+ telescope setup who wants to hang out on a pier with me for a week or two.

Anyone in Los Angeles have a telescope with a Hydrogen Alpha Quantum Filter? There are crows who are flying across the sun in Long Beach right now and it would be super cool to get a shot of them flying across the chromosphere. If anyone is in circles with folks they can hit me up, I have thoughts
