Ironically, the level of vitriol in response to @jemima.bsky.social's column on the echoey nature of the BlueSky chamber has matched any twitter pile on I've ever seen, only with an added dose of self-righteousness. (1/11)

Americans are also reading a British columnists in a British newspaper, laughing at her silly British name, howling they don't get her British references & missing the British context (Bsky migration post-Elon UK riot tweets) V reminiscent of this lol 👇🏻(6/11) www.gawkerarchives.com/culture/i-sh...
For a platform whose dedicated users like to promote this as a civilised alternative to The Other Place (or sometimes more cringely The Bad Place) the rage all seems a bit, well, uncivil. Anyway, I look forward to the Montagnard Convention putting my name on various blocklists now I guess! (11/11)

Fair do's. I have similar experiences after a relatively brief term, but I did get a lifetime ban on the pre Xitter, so it's hard to say what's real in virtual land. I hesitated to resume posting as this a 2nd Dorsey mess, his legacy is still with us from his 1st. But it's not him so much as it's us
Robert Smith, what do you make of Jemima Kelly's having posted a gift link to X, and framing it this way? cc: @kevinmkruse.bsky.social

To everyone replying: you've hopefully seen I've made a good effort to respond to as many as possible, but unfortunately I have a (sometimes tedious) day job at attend to and now the US is waking up I don't have the time to reply to the firehose. will try to get round to as many as possible later ✌️
The people who live in an echo chamber with lots of block lists are there either because they want to be or because they're from a minority that gets bullied a lot and they need the self protection. Pile on culture is a problem here. Block lists that actually block people reduce the amount of grief.
If it’s not the missing Nazi accounts that she’s worried about, what’s an account that’s missing or not amplified enough on Bluesky? Like, one example might be nice. As I read it, she thinks Nazi accounts ARE necessary in order tamp down the echo. I think it’s reasonable to find this idea abhorrent.
The weird thing is this farrago has stopped Bluesky feeling like a @stephenkb.bsky.social / cat meme duopoly
