More and more organizations, publishers, and creators are abandoning legacy platforms that throttle their reach. Bluesky gives them a direct line to their audiences, without suppression or gatekeeping bsky.app/profile/eff....

After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵 (1/5) www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

For Bluesky to be more effective, people (your users) need to start reposting the posts they are interested in. . If people don't repost interesting articles, how will other people find like interests on Bluesky?

Twitter started out as a good idea, but after Elon kept changing the algorithms to lower the visibility of great organizations like the EFF, it turned into a burning dumpster fire.

The problem is that your post only reaches us, already on Bluesky. It would be nice if the message could spread on the other side as well.

Bluesky needs to eliminate block lists. I can’t access and boost people I have followed and boosted for years here and on X. These lists are clearly created by bots or MAGA trolls dividing left from left.

Thank you Bluesky for building a space where voices can reach their audiences freely. It means a lot to creators and communities to have a platform that values openness and connection without unnecessary barriers. Keep doing what you’re doing 🩵🙌

Let us filter out skeets that don't allow us to reply. I didn't want to be skeeted at, I want to be skeeted with.

X is a joke. Paid for Premium, verified ID, yet restricted for "inauthentic behavior." Your AI is as effective as a condom shot with a shotgun — useless & full of holes. Banning real users while bots run wild? Total circus. 🤡👋

feel like this couldve/shouldve been on one of the personal accounts of bsky's staff to be like "im so proud of my company" rather than THE bsky account as an attempt to preach to the unhappy quire

Direct reach matters, but for artists and cultural workers the real shift is also about governance: who sets the terms for visibility, reuse, and context. Open social is not just distribution, it is cultural infrastructure.

Many academics, following sheer numbers and not much else (IMO), ditched Bluesky for "CringedIn"; I assume this is a key discussion topic at @bsky.app. Tools targeting academics (e.g. a jobs section) would be very needed. Please engage with our community and prove that this can be our ideal option

This is now my platform choice in building and growing my audience, haven’t logon Twitter for almost 3 years

Bluesky algorithms absolutely positively throttle certain users in favor of others. There's no other way to explain how somebody with a thousand followers can get 14,000 likes on a post yet someone with 30,000 followers can't ever get a thousand.

As my follower count has grown, so apparently has the opposition to my existence here. I was blocked 9x one day 11x another day recently. I know the x'ers are migrating over to cause disruption but bsky clearly is too understaffed to deal with it effectively.

until 2 recent posts got almost 3k likes each, I had never gone over 700 likes in over 18k+ posts.

Wow. I logged onto X for the first time in years, clicked like on a Tony Robinson post 'for science' and the algorithms did their thing... I was bombarded with the most vitriolic, trash posts I've ever seen. Racism, calls for literal genocide, the works. From all around the world, too. One click.

I'm stunned that any creators would want to associate their name and output with that site and its ilk. God, I feel dirty just witnessing the posts initiated by that one curious click. I mean, sure, bsky is an echo chamber and Reddit is over-moderated and siloed, but X is a fucking war crime.

Ok, But don’t feel the need to streamline your platform since now millions of people are coming here. You can make some adjustment with computer keys & job listings. But learn what other websites have done wrong & don’t do them, as discord is scanning faces for IDs. I beg Bluesky not be the next one

Yes and Hi all I just joined today and verified my domain as well as I am here for the real convo. I have liked your platform it is very similar to X (twitter) and hope you treat me as a human. You have done a splendid job in creating this platform and I too intend to use it wisely. Regards, Vikas

It's a decision I made lightly! About 10 years, over 2,500 Followers... apparently...0 to 5 reactions each time. Total waste of life...😤

Without suppression or gatekeeping? Remember when your head of Trust and Safety banned someone for calling out his predilection for looking at teenie porn while on the job? Remember when you banned: 1.) Link? 2.) Lexi Alexander, internationally known film maker? 3.) Countless Palestinians?

Sam Altman says he hopes to dissuade people from throwing Molotov cocktails at his house “regardless of what they may think” of him. These people are amazing‼️ Sam and friends, we, the people, would like you to stop throwing AI at us, “regardless of what you may think” of us.

This is what happens when you express your disapproval of Trump, MAGA, and Musk on X/Twitter. 😠 Your account is suspended After careful review, we determined your account broke the X Rules. Your account is permanently in read-only mode, which means you can’t post, Repost, or Like content.

I've been on for 15 years and am looking at leaving or down-throttling. If I stay, I won't pay for the stupid blue checkmark anymore unless I lose GROK (for graphics creation). Many followers are Palestinian who need my engagement to fight Musk's algorithms. Others are people I will also miss.

you violated the GDPR to demand PII from at least one user from gaza who is a permanent resident of the UK, whose ban appeal that included that PII you never replied to. you don’t abide by your own rules or international laws when it comes to palestinian users from or in gaza, you sociopaths.

Well, by using (I assume: deliberately) rubbish software, you flag harmless nudes as ‘sexually explicit’. That reduces reach by about 50%. I have absolutely nothing against tagging, but it’s only useful if it’s accurate. Otherwise, that’s what you call: throttling the reach.

+1. İn fact, +10. So many art nude photographers and models are fed up of this. İt's not just about reach, you're affirming negativity and judgmentalism towards nudity. That causes, for models esp., real world harms.

This week, Bluesky quietly surpassed X in referral traffic to my football blog. Here's the thing. The blog is by shared by accounts with hundreds of followers on BS vs accounts with tens of thousands of followers on X. That tells me everything I need to know about where to build my audience. Not X.

Thank you — I really appreciate it. That’s exactly why I built Sky Follower Bridge. I’d love to see migration tooling become a more native part of the Bluesky onboarding experience someday.

I and other independent journalists have been unable to get verified on Bluesky. Most of us don't have access to a work email, but we do have years of journalism experience. Would love thoughts on how to get more independent journalists verified on Bluesky.

You’re throttling my reach to the hundreds of thousands of followers who I told to find me here from twitter bsky.app/profile/davi...

After Senator @chrismurphyct.bsky.social posted my tweet to @bsky.app about TikTok censorship, Bluesky censored my account and are requesting that i unfollow people despite having over 200,000 followers

You're following over 28k accounts which is a very popular indicator of unauthentic behavior, engagement hackers, etc. Not sure if your @moderation.bsky.app spam label originated from that or something else.

🧑🏻‍🦰I agree Twitter🐦isn't the social network it once was , now it does control user data and everything u do is constantly watched and monitored which is kind of creepy moving to bluesky☁️is the best decision I ever made ❕

how are you in marketing but have less people interested in your stuff than me? and why do you want this shit? you guys got obsessed with job-justifying shit that doesn't mean anything. isn't there anything meaningful in your life? this is your job?

It's not a Bluesky issue; it's basically impossible to have an accurate view counter, that's just how the AT Protocol works Bluesky is more than just the user interface you see; it's a decentralized social media platform built on what is probably the best social networking protocol.

I’m sorry, but when you leave X, the primary motivation is that you’re sick and tired of girls and now you just want to be surrounded by cute boys who work for Netflix. “Waking up gay one morning,” if you will. “Enlisting in the Navy.” Or choosing the middle of 3 urinals in the men’s restroom. 🤷‍♂️😒

That's great and all, or it would be if this site wasn't just as bad as shitter for almost all the same reasons except rampant facism- no wait, one of the people working for you hates trans people so I guess we have that here too
