Edema is a symptom of a disease process usually. Or it is present after a traumatic injury. Remarkable to me is that he has this much edema in spite of the presence of compression stockings.

it’s a boot 👢 that looks like a foot in a shoe and he slides his little tiny feet into them like a child wearing Mommy’s heels. It’s an extra 3 - 4 inches without falling (usually) in fact I think they are orthotics &he can’t stand up without them. 🤩 that’s not his ankle it’s his heel 🧐 #Platform

I am kind of surprised he still insists on those shoes. They have to be very uncomfortable. He should be wearing diabetic shoes that can adjust with velcro etc. to adapt to the swollen foot/ankle and not provide friction/blister formation.

Sadly yes. The edema probably actually goes up to his knees and he is very high risk for developing venous stasis ulcers, which are virtually impossible to heal. He may already have them, he will never let anyone know.

I have taken care of many patients with stasis ulcers, such a challenge. Even with an improved diet, meds, unna boots, physical therapy etc., it’s so hard to see improvement. He ignores these symptoms at his own risk.

Exactly. My BIL had a kidney transplant many years ago (runs in his family), and he has had a few swollen ankle moments. He also has to keep them elevated.

It is. It aches. I have patients with this condition. They get claudication while walking, and have trouble breathing, can't sleep at night.. esp. flat-- and need diuretics so they are constantly having to pee. That is probably why he needs "executive time" to urinate off all the lasix.

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y! Putting in a pacemaker is an office procedure now(my mother is on her 3rd). This would explain why an ambulance was at MAL and he vanished for a couple days Internets did some heavy lifting looking for the most benign condition to explain the fankles when it’s actually heart failure

He has them on, you can tell by how smooth th ankles are. Edema is uneven with pockets that firm anywhere there is pressure. He probably cannot get his shoes in without compression stockings.

He likely gets up too early before they can apply them before the swelling occurs as well. He does not sleep well (probably has OSA and won't wear a CPAP) so is up at all hours watching tv and texting. So by the time the nurse or medic comes in to apply the TEDS, he is already quite swollen.

I have lipedema and enormously large calves. Having an illness that makes your legs big doesn't make you a bad person. Being a piece of shit (which Trump is) makes him bad. I hate it when body shaming becomes the narrative instead of shaming him for being evil.

As a nurse & a human being, I deeply empathize with how harmful & wrong body shaming is. That said, it becomes increasingly difficult to hold back when someone like Trump has spent years demeaning others, often attacking their appearance, intelligence, & worth, while holding himself up as superior.

When I worked at the nursing home, I knew a lot of residents that had similar problems. The medications, diet & compression socks didn't really work after awhile especially if it's that bad.
