Stephen Lynch, aiming to be top Dem on the Oversight Cmte, blew up at a constituent who asked him to oppose the GOP. "I get to decide that. I get to decide that. I get to decide that. I'm elected. I get to decide that. You wanna decide that? You need to run for Congress, okay? I get to decide that"

And Lynch could face a challenge in the Democratic primary next year. Attorney Patrick Roath, who used to work for Deval Patrick, is reportedly weighing a campaign. Now's the time. A smart candidate would jump in while Lynch is distracted corralling support for his Oversight bid.

This is why term limits should be one of the many things we focus on getting in place. At the risk of sounding like an Originalist, elected federal office was never meant to be a full time job, and since it now needs to be we need to start cycling them more often lest they forget why they are there.

Amazing, he has to consider all of his constituents, not just the ones that keep voting him back in. He's not the first Democrat to snap back in this same way bc we don't know "how it really is". I think we do - the nice gravy train is how it really is - but that's up to us.

Why you can’t trust democrats to do shit? It’s videos like this where a bunch of old men want to lecture constituents on priorities after previously telling them how bad the others guys are for democracy (which they are). Flush them all out.

Here's a thought: If representing 800k people is too big of a job, delegate. That's what real leaders do. Autocrats consolidate power, leaders delegate & share it. Time for new representatives!!

Personally I think AOC and Bernie and the more progressive wing of the Democrats are NOT doing this: they have to be aware of their public persona, but I don't think they arrange play dates for their kids with the person they just called "evil incarnate" on TV.

Wasn't that his point? He works for his 800k constituents and has to use his judgment on how best to help most? But, if his constituents decide he is not representing them properly, they also get to decide who will best represent them.
