Oh my gosh, the best political video on YouTube just got updated after a decade and a half and it's still just perfect! It visualizes something that I've talked about a lot since the first video came out: The real problem is the billionaire class. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gxl...

I’m not saying we should shed a tear for the financial impositions faced by multimillionaires. It’s just an illustrative point that the billionaires have *so much* money. They have so much more wealth than you imagined. This visualization has gotten much worse since 2012: youtu.be/QPKKQnijnsM?...

An app is a webpage wrapped in the right kind of IP law to make it a felony to change how it works, which is why companies are infinitely horny to get you to use their apps, not their websites: pluralistic.net/2024/05/07/t... 19/

We used to know how Government worked. This is from a 1948 Civics textbook - a graphic on life without Government and With Government. For the last 25 year or longer we keep sliding back to the left in the US.

This Mother Jones article on how to tax the rich got me curious about the underlying research/people. I found some interesting stuff, including that contrary to popular belief The Boston Tea Party was about taxes being TOO LOW. 1/3 bsky.app/profile/mich...

Everyone except billionaires wants to tax billionaires, but taxing wealth at the federal level ain't gonna happen. Heck, SCOTUS won't even let Congress touch unrealized gains, the main source of income for the nation's wealthiest families. Allow me to Mikesplain (story link in replies):

A majority of Americans can’t afford rent on a modest 2 bedroom. People aren't buying their first home until 40. Since 1990, the cost of housing is up 174% while wages have flatlined. We're in a housing crisis. Congress needs to act like it.

On its third attempt tonight, Marblehead Town Meeting approved an “MBTA Communities–compliant” district largely centered on the 125-year-old Tedesco Country Club, meeting 3A requirements on paper while all but assuring no new housing would be built. This comment says it all.

I’m having a hard time thinking of an interview between two human beings I enjoyed more than tonight’s interview of the great Ian McKellen by the great Stephen Colbert. Every moment of it was a pleasure that I highly recommend… but then came the most REMARKABLE ending that you really HAVE to watch.

Just got back from a local dem mtg. One the major dem candidates was there. I asked for any low hanging fruit policies to implement right away. They said ‘ban cell phones in schools.’ I pushed back hard — the science on this not at all convincing. sending their staff this: bsky.app/profile/mmas...
