Stephen Lynch, aiming to be top Dem on the Oversight Cmte, blew up at a constituent who asked him to oppose the GOP. "I get to decide that. I get to decide that. I get to decide that. I'm elected. I get to decide that. You wanna decide that? You need to run for Congress, okay? I get to decide that"

He, and everyone that have become so comfortable in their position that they’re no longer beholden to constituents needs to go. They work for us, not the other way around. Cleaning the rolls in both the House and Senate would remind them of that. Their pension and healthcare needs to be renegotiated

And Lynch could face a challenge in the Democratic primary next year. Attorney Patrick Roath, who used to work for Deval Patrick, is reportedly weighing a campaign. Now's the time. A smart candidate would jump in while Lynch is distracted corralling support for his Oversight bid.

Amazing, he has to consider all of his constituents, not just the ones that keep voting him back in. He's not the first Democrat to snap back in this same way bc we don't know "how it really is". I think we do - the nice gravy train is how it really is - but that's up to us.

Why you can’t trust democrats to do shit? It’s videos like this where a bunch of old men want to lecture constituents on priorities after previously telling them how bad the others guys are for democracy (which they are). Flush them all out.

Here's a thought: If representing 800k people is too big of a job, delegate. That's what real leaders do. Autocrats consolidate power, leaders delegate & share it. Time for new representatives!!

Personally I think AOC and Bernie and the more progressive wing of the Democrats are NOT doing this: they have to be aware of their public persona, but I don't think they arrange play dates for their kids with the person they just called "evil incarnate" on TV.

Wasn't that his point? He works for his 800k constituents and has to use his judgment on how best to help most? But, if his constituents decide he is not representing them properly, they also get to decide who will best represent them.

The longer this goes on, the longer Trump and his goons dig in their heels. The Dem establishment strategy of pretending everything is normal is both idiotic and dangerous. A conclusion that one might draw could be that they're in on it.

If this senator knows more about the workings of the legislature than the public, why is that? Our representatives work for us, I thought. The disdain most politicians, dem. and repub. have for the public is on full display.

this is one of the guys that I bet David Hogg's group is targeting .. and this is what pisses off the establishment Dems. I am old enough to be David's Grandma but I believe he is on the right track - find the weak Dems in safe districts and put someone in who will have a backbone against the GOP

The GOP has been at war against democracy and freedom for decades. Ok if our low or mis information voters don’t see this but Lynch must have been in the capitol building himself when they sacked it on 1/6. GTFO!

Once politicians make it about themselves it's time to dump them for people who make it about the voters who put them there. An outburst like this should guarantee this guy gets primaried.

Who's going to hold the town halls in Maga districts? The House minority can't throw wrenches because there are none to throw. They are powerless. They've crushed Maga on its hypocrisy on the floor and in committee. Primary if you feel the need but be patient. POTUS is destroying himself nicely.

This is the fundamental problem of people who are attracted to becoming a politician - the level of narcissism and self aggrandizement and promotion required, the ability to grovel and beg for donations, and too often, the lack of empathy and self serving interests to further their “career”.

I hope Dems like this are the focus for primary challenges. I’m seeing way too many people who just want Dems period and as a person who really wants some specific Republicans out of office I hope we can be strategic.

Let's be very very clear here. Just because they have a D next to their names, doesn't mean they have your best interests in mind. They are ALL captured by Citizens United and the billionaires who write their fat reelection checks!

The quoted article above references anti-trans-athlete comments Lynch made after the election. I also remember hearing him say something like that. But to be fair, I can't find an actual quote right now and he DID vote against the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act" this year 🤔

Now I see why even Dems are afraid to hold town halls. People are angry and they want their elected officials to fight for them. Instead we have, well, the people we elected. We elected bureaucrats who know how to work within a normal government. They are clueless against fascism.

Wow! He has to go. Clearly he has money involved, is in debt to trump or one of the minions, a regular Epstein guest or any number of other reasons to decide to support trump lunacy more than support US citizens & the constitution. He’s been playing this game too long anyway! 20 years is too long!

This is what Democrats like him don’t understand. He will not be able to represent all his constituents once democracy is destroyed. He needs to focus on the bigger picture of what is best for the country as a whole, first. Vote accordingly for what will preserve democracy.

The problem is he represents 800,000 people. Thats 600,000 too many. There should be three members of Congress representing those 800,000 people. UNCAP THE HOUSE. GIVE THE PEOPLE THEIR TRUE VOICE.

His juvenile rant notwithstanding, I’ll say that I don’t believe in blanket pledges like this. In the extremely unlikely event that Republicans introduced a bill that was actually in America’s best interests, Dems should vote for it.

As I was reading this, I guessed that he's in MA. Yet another state where the Democrats really need to clean house. I have terrible firsthand experience with the nauseating entitlement of some electeds there.

I used to live in Massachusetts until last year. Stephen Lynch is, and always has been, a do-nothing, spineless piece of shit who just follows the crowd. Why the idiots in his district keep electing this oxygen thief is beyond me!

"How dare you tell me how to do my job?" "It... it's not your job yet. This is the interview. You are interviewing to be my employee. I would be your supervisor. It would be a large part of my job to tell you how to do your job." "You got some nerve, Buddy!"
