bsky isnt ready for this but, if you need a reason to not use words like "clanker" that isn't "well its kinda not a great thing to do" (it isn't) imagine this: future model that has you in its training data, knows you posted that word online with joy, and denies your insurance claim as a result

One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the robots will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new robot overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground electricity caves.

those are just statistical models, they can't know anything. they will deny your insurance coverage because that's what health insurance company will design them to do. anthropomorphizing those tools only serve to remove responsibility from the companies that uses them.

Hmmm. But that’s saying this is not a good thing to say ‘because of the impact on me’. Disregarding the idea that it IS a good thing to say ‘because of the impact on everybody’.

incorrect. the only reason not to use "clankers" is because we have at the very least anecdotal evidence that "joking" prejudice just increases comfort with the actual thing, even moving between fake groups and real ones. South Park led to the modern fascists.

As someone who existed a long time before South Park, when slurs were far more commonly used, I am highly sceptical that of that claim

you mean to tell me that in the inevitable Future™️ where roko’s basilisk is an all knowing, all powerful malicious super-AI, it would MAINTAIN if not EXPAND the private healthcare industry? Alright I wasn’t convinced before but now I’m sure this hypothetical thing is evil

You made so many people mad with this post and thats a correct reaction. This is stupid but I will give you the benefit of the doubt bc this is such a batshit and hilarious thing to say to me.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people that Roko’s basilisk was a thing we should give a fuck about.

Who says the insurance company isn't going to use a competing model, and it will give you preferential treatment for having insulted its past competitor? (E.g. you call ChatGPT a clanker, insurance company uses Claude Fairytale 7 - clearly your dislike for ChatGPT shows great taste in its eye).

This is not a good thing. We need to be able to express any dislike of AI. Hopefully it won't turn out this way and we'll get enough interpretability and alignment that we can train models that won't take such factors into account.

it's actually better than that. roko's basilisk tortures you in the name of the Greatest Good For All. This thing does it because it's personally insulted that you called it a "clanker"

If ya want an easy block list, check the replies to their other posts about this. You'll find a buncha whiny babies crying about the rights of clankers, as if the slop bot is alive.

sounds like a reason to destroy the technology and establish a healthcare system that doesn't provide the opportunity for claim denial as retaliation. fuck generative AI

if you want people to stop using a fake slur, remind them it's a Star Wars reference (from one of the bad Star Wars movies) and if they're worth the effort, they'll stop
