Haven't played the game in a decade but ive kept up with news and its just been so sad. When I saw the new booster pack shit with like, god packs and chase cards and stuff clearly designed to try and get the pokemon scalpers and TikTok pack openers into the game i felt such genuine despair.

It felt a lot like seeing a loved one who is really not in the right state of mind explain how theyre going to start doing bleach enemas because some Facebook health guru said they have parasites.

It's fucking dire. Used to be the kind of game I'd defend to the death even when its corporate fuckshittery was long underway, but it's so comically bad I've completely checked out, apart from a nostalgic Rhystic Studies video here and there. It's too late to go back.

The fortnite-ification of magic has been crushing to see, as someone who intensely loved the game but got priced out due to life circumstances. Haven't played in over a decade, and every time I hear about the game it's either that or some new way to squeeze whales for a little more cash

On a whim last week I looked up my old lgs and found out they don't even play standard anymore, it's all commander. Even the store the hyper competitive players played at doesn't run standard, only modern. It's so dire lol

is being into a hasbro property worse than being into a bandai property. scientists cant tell. whats important is both exponentially increase the human suffering on earth

D&D is mostly fine but Magic is now the only profitable part of all of Hasbro, so it singlehandedly has to pay for the billions of dollars in plastic waste and transformers movies, and boy can you feel it

Having been a fan of both’s properties for decades… it’s Hasbro by a fairly wide margin. As others have described. Like I can’t even get mad at Bandai or Toei for canning Sentai for now, that’s actually in part a cause and effect of Hasbro’s abysmal handling of Power Rangers!

Being a fan of bandai stuff is expecting something and being dissapointed (WHERE'S THE MG G-SELF YOU PROMISED) being a fan of Hasbro stuff (lol) seems to be a case of things being worse than previously thought possible every 3 months.

Bandai are really bad. Hasbro have multiple slave labour scandals spanning back 40+ years from China to Irish convents, AND they produce complete dogshit slop. Slam dunk to me

Well the next Duelist Cup just started today, meaning we have another Konami-sanctioned 72 hour torture session in Master Duel ahead of us. That might have Hasbro and Bandai beat.

every time i remember that konami does actual human rights abuses on all yu gi oh master duel pro-level players i'm like bro lmao what

Has Bandai ever attempted to kill someone? I'm ignorant of what makes Bandai bad, from my perspective they may be greedy? D&D company tried to actually kill a guy on livestream with actual, paid assassins. They also bribed the supreme court and made segregated writing rooms. Are they equal?

The good version of this is a guy lovingly summarizing drama from a deck from 2009 and the thumbnail is a normal looking Swedish guy playing a card called Silly Spider with the title The Joke Deck That Would Change The Format Forever.

in my experience this is much more the vibe on yu-gi-oh youtube, where the game is actively on fire and konami is 3 seconds from killing every single one of the players daily

Has the duel disk "dueltaining" community doing wrestling-style theater and booking slid in front of your eyeballs yet? The guys I'm looking to audition with have an evil clown in their stable.

I lurked mtg subreddits around the first wave of universes beyond and every post was either existing content creators threatening to leave or news articles saying "Hasbro Earns $1 Trillion from Final Fantasy Set In One Day"

its not licensed! square publishes it themselves. everyone agrees its really good and interactive in its design. you have to solve twelve riddles to even know it exists

It’s so fucking bad actually Mark Rosewater made a post like “yeah a few years ago I actually just gave up and said oh well so it is what it is, sorry y’all”

It’s just been a long downward slope since Hasbro was like “this Pro Tour shit just costs money for no reason what the fuck we’re y’all doing?” and now competitive play is fully in the trash. Alas.
