easy funniest moment in links awakening is when marin, a girl who doesn’t exist, sits by the shore and talks to you about how she wants see the world as beautiful music plays and then afterwards you hold her up like an item and the game is like you might be getting some pussy later link!!

I get your point, but also honestly that scene is one of the reasons Marin is my favorite character in all of Zelda Not the part where Link treats her like an item, mind you - the part where she wants to see the world.

It's the part where we learn she is the only one on this entire island who dreams of seeing beyond its shores. I think she represents the Wind Fish's desire to wake up - that's why she sings the ballad, and why she feels so trapped on the island when everyone else acts like it's the whole damn world

I mean women are constantly throwing themselves at link but he never notices breaking the fourth wall is probably the only way to get that dumbass to realize a woman wants him (and it still didn't work maybe)

fonished this game a few months ago, and i felt this part had such childish sincerity within video games. u rly do go around listening to ppls issues and nodding and then go "obtained friendship". it's like a more honest depiction of what happens when your social link goes up in persona

Theres a theory that marin is kinda like a dream projection from links dream, hence why if you attack cuccos marin will say something along the lines like “do it more!!” Like she is connected to link in someway, it would also make more sense why link sees her at the end of one of the endings!

Seeing this gave me "I miss playing Zelda" poisoning; it's crazy I managed to contrarian myself into not playing any of these games until my 20s

When he gets the shield in wind waker he is still posed like that while his grandma looks sad and has to like actively put his arms down and stop doing the pose to comfort her. it's very cute

to add to this, ruto does it with the zora sapphire and kafei does it with the sun mask it is very much just a thing people do lol

to add to THIS, tingle will copy link doing the pose when you get the tingle tuner (or tingle bottle in the wii u remake)

Link's Awakening is the first game I ever remember playing. The brain breaking nostalgia this thread is kicking up makes me feel so sad, but stupendously grateful for having played through this beautiful story. By far the best take on "it was all a dream" that I can recall.

i love how the remake fixed up one line in the ending from "THAT MEMORY MUST BE THE REAL DREAM WORLD" to "THAT MEMORY MAKES THE DREAM WORLD REAL" i checked the Japanese script; the old version is a literal translation but it's easy to see that the remake's version is the intended *sentiment*

relatedly i recently played a VN called Schrodinger's Call and as much as i love the characters and soundtrack it drives me nuts because it implies very strongly by the end that the whole thing is just the protagonist's dying dream it does not stick the landing the way Link's Awakening does

the last time i played i found a special scene with Marin on the westmost cape and i don't think i'd ever seen it before, in either the original or the remake
